Whisky Reviews for Benromach 2009
5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.05 points
- Delicious 1st Fill Bourbon Barrel. A few flowers, lemon with a touch of artificial orange flavor, malt, vanilla (all in all reminds me of a lemon cake). Despite the many percent pleasantly soft in the mouth, gentle notes of smoke, vanilla, orange, Butterscotch, oak flavor. Long finish in which these impressions are repeated, especially scented oak, lemon and vanilla.
- I have tasted the whisky several times and it tastes best when diluted to about 48% vol.
It is rich in floral aromas, in addition there are light citrus notes with light pepper and chocolate. Always present a peat smoke in the background.
The finish is medium long with grain and some smoke.
Salty with mild peat smoke, lots of toffee, citrus, pudding and flowering apple. Becomes more peaty over time and gradually develops a note of pickled green olives.
With water: plenty of butterscotch, salt, menthol, Belgian waffles with chocolate sauce and a delicate peat smoke in the background.
Violent attack with salt, peat smoke, the burnt crust of creme brulee and fresh citrus notes. Is becoming increasingly floral and flowery.
With water: salty, smoldering laubfeuer, peat and caramelized apples.
Long, smoky and a bit of salted caramel
- Color: pale straw
Comment: Very smoky for a Benromach. I do not know why I should spend money on this bottling, the strong first-fill bourbon notes do not agree with me in combination with Benromach, he is also alcoholic, then prefer a Laphi Quarter Cask for 50 € less. 83P Not that there are no decent Benromachs under the age of 10, the Triple distilled, the Peat Smoke is not totally wrong, but this one ... Nee.
Alcohol, tree juice, vanilla and Islay-esquer smoke, wet ash, coconut. With water: less alcohol, more resinous, more coconut, less ash. Toothpaste.
Expected sharp, greasy, ashy smoke, again coconut. With water: Pleasant to drink, still hot, Laphi Quarter Cask with even more banana and coconut.
Medium long, coconut, more resin than ash, at the end unpleasantly dry.
