The nose is a bit (lemony) fresher and floral and chocolatier than the winter batch; Almost everything is the same in the mouth, except for the milk / cream coffee and the cocoa; Everything almost the same again in the finish - no wonder, there are only a few months between Summer and Winter Batch - I give 89.5 points (can not go here)

Nose

Vanilla, lemon, rose petals, toffee, vanilla crisp dough, hay, acacia honey, jasmine, nutmeg, linseed oil, olive oil, fresh bent branches, apple, it is always flowery with more rose petals, now also intense violets, more jasmine, the lemon is stronger , some varnish, apricot, mirabelle, freshly sliced pineapple, then it goes on and becomes softer, fuller, buttery, vanilla kipper (fresh from the oven), freshly grated mint, oatmeal, grapefruit, fresh wood, then a trace of marzipan, one Coffee bean, the smell of fresh pine needles, then after a while banana chips ... and more violets, cardamom, dark chocolate and coconut, always backed by lemon oil - very similar to the winter batch (there are only 4 months in between) maybe a tad bit fresher, lemony, more floral nose, and instead of butteriness rather direction (cocoa) butter

Taste

(here I can almost take over the Notes from the Winter Batch, almost!) spicy with nutmeg, cinnamon, coffee, a little chili, then comes back to the vanilla and the thick sweetness forward, vanilla kipper, fresh from the oven, a lot of jasmine tea (black ), Rose tea, coconut, banana, then only the other fruits with lemon, apricot and apple push forward, the second sip is leinölig, spicy, sweet, fruity, the fresh cask now fully through, again with coffee - especially here Latte - and chilli and nutmeg - and also with chocolate and cocoa butter; in the background always the vanilla ... custard, creamy, warm custard with coffee beans - to a piece of fragrant Squirrel and warm apple compote with cinnamon ... the lemon appears again, but not dominant, then some licorice, chocolate and mint, followed by fresh wood and freshly sliced pineapple, slightly different and a touch less intense than the winter batch

Finish

good medium length; extremely jasmine and violet, a lot of vanilla, acacia honey, coffee with cream, dark drinking chocolate, mint, lemon oil, linseed oil, light hay, slightly grassy ... marzipan and a hint of white pepper ... and buttery to the end!

Maybe I dont understand something, but this whisky on the nose is just like new make. Taste is a little better, but in fact I was really disappointed.

A great lowland whisky that's a must try in our books. It's superbly balanced, sweet and spicy with a lot of character. Daftmill's patience has undoubtedly paid off with this second release - we cannot wait to try their next offerings.

Nose

Initially very fruity with lots of lemon, honey and melted butter. Fresh cream, butterscotch, hints of orange oil, marmalade and vanilla pod. Lots of sweet, summery notes. After sitting for a few minutes, an ever so slight minerally note appears - akin to St Magdalene.

Taste

lemon zest, honey and spice burst, with hints of fresh marzipan, fresh mint, tangy oranges and toffee. There's a great oaky note in there, balanced with some wood spice. The melted butter shows itself if you let the spirit rest on your tongue.

Finish

Medium to long finish, more spices and white pepper arriving, hints of toasted sunflower seed - more the shell rather than the seed. Moving to more honeyed vanilla with an ever so slight earthiness, finishing with a very subtle ground down Parma Violet note.

Nose: Shortbread and Florida Key lime pie, are the first things that hit you, followed shortly after with bananas, vanilla, and apricots that evolve into greengages. An nose that is very challenging and keeps evolving into new savours.

Taste: “Millions of peaches, peaches for me. Millions of peaches, peaches for free”
Well it’s not really free, since the bottle turns out to be quite expensive. But this is very lovely! I totally love the taste of this dram. Again the shortbread, Key lime pie and greengages. A lot of lovely peaches in this dram though!

Finish: Green apples, bananas, Galia melons and apricots… It’s just one big tropical fruit surprise!

Balance and Complexity: Well-balanced in both nose and taste, and a tropical fruit bomb in the finish.

Comments: Fife has surely put itself back on the map with this dram! It’s different from other Lowlanders, though it does have similarities with a good yet fruity Rosebank in a very distinctive way. It makes me very happy to see that we weren’t being fobbed off with a bad whisky sold overpriced. This is worth every cent. High standards, high quality, no concessions, very artisanal which by all means makes it very likeable.

It is refreshing see nowadays, as many new distillers would sell anything from gin to newmake to 3-year-old whisky with poor quality and big marketing, just to make a quick buck. Thank God there’s the Cuthbert brothers who honor the drink as it rightly deserves. Please keep them coming! It’s proof that good artisanal whiskies are still being made today

A stunning modern whisky with extreme quality. This is a distillate forward style however so the casuals won;t understand it and most likely score it lower than it is. Fine by us as it should keep the prices lower too.

The nose reminded me of a rather good Rosebank I reviewed previously, but the palate not so much.

Nose

Light and floral, with hints of rose petals and peaches, as well as white grapes. There's a touch of mint in the background too, followed by sweet vanilla and cereals, and a good whiff of lemon peel. Very satisfying.

Taste

Quite spicy compared to the nose, with lots of cloves especially, and some nutmeg too. Hints of cardboard, as well as charred oak. I really do have a hard time retrieving those fruits.

Finish

Light fruitiness, with lemon at the forefront. Slightly grassy as well, with a bit of menthol. Medium in length.

Promising and great nose, the rest doesn't really impress. I might be better a cask strength.

Powdered sugar and cantaloupe. Somewhat grassy and Lemon.

Taste

Thin, some sweetness. Cereal and some caramel.

Finish

Short, a bit pepper. Some caramel.

This is a fairly balanced and tasty summer whisky. Especially the nose sends you on a journey of discovery, but also in the mouth happens quite a lot. Only the departure disappointed. But you also have to give him the time to develop.

Notes originally from a blind tasting, slightly adapted in a second pass.

Nose

Launches very fresh, lime and sea air, but then goes quickly towards cooking laundry (in the saucepan) and muff with an idea camphor. First let stand ...
After some time, the muffle has settled, but it is not so fresh anymore. Acts now rather balanced. Some butter, grass, still lots of lime, citrus and some mineral, but only a little sweet flavors. When heated, it also shows some vanilla and cotton candy as well as dried herbs.

Taste

In the mouth, he then starts with dry, will be very sweet in the short term, and then back to dry. The alcohol presses very late. Finally, strong oak with licorice and a hint of menthol. As far as the individual notes are concerned, a lot happens here in a short time. Lemon zest, some floral and cotton candy remain in the memory. The mouthfeel is rather thin.

very disappointed experience. As some other users already say it is completely overhyped. Tastes like a 10-14y standard from Auchentoshan and should be at 30€ ..

Blind Tasting Competition sample. Never had a Daftmill before, occurred totally like an Auchentoshan to me.

Nose

Schnappsy and malty. Fig and pear liquor. Later dough.

Taste

Malt, fig, apple, cardboard and dough.

Finish

Malt, fig, roasted nuts and white chocolate.
