A single cask from HP is certainly always a highlight. Although I'm a fervent supporter of Cask Strength bottlings, less alcohol or longer maturation would probably have significantly improved the result!
    • Nose
Sweet raisins, sherry and at the same time incredibly alcoholic. Delicate fruitiness of bananas, apricots and spicy oak. Interplay of sweetness and dryness. With (much) water it shows significantly more aromas of vanilla, more fruits and some smoke.
    • Taste
What a start! Alcohol covers a lot at the beginning. With water, he is recognizable as HP. More vanilla, spicy oak and fruitiness is noticeable. For me he gets a lot better with a lot of water ... much better.
    • Finish
Pur he burns quite clearly on the palate. At the same time sweet-dry and spicy. With water much more pleasant! Again, the water brings more vanilla and fruits to light. Now he is recognizable as HP.

With water you can tame the alcohol well, it is sweeter, more fruity, more vanilla, banana, pencil abrasion, clear Heidearomen and unfortunately some floral soap in the taste / finish

Conclusion: This is a completely different house number than Cask 4250. Although the alcohol content is significantly higher at 65.8%, it looks calmer and more balanced. In the taste of the alcohol is clearly too strong, but you can do well here with neat water. The dull notes from 4250 are missing, altogether rounder, more harmonious, sweeter - simply distinctly delicious .. only the soap in the finish with added water is a minus point. The fits much better to the quality of other bottlings, but still lags behind something - 86 points

Raisins, plums, creamy banana, vanilla, caramel, strong hollow cabbage, but even though this is higher than the 4250, it looks more harmonious, better integrated. Some heather comes through, along with spicy oak, milk chocolate, coffee powder and licorice flavors
    • Taste

Bämm, the alcohol is very strong, there must definitely be pure water, clear sweetness, plum, cherry, coffee, chocolate and spicy oak notes
    • Finish
      84 84
is very long, sherry with dried fruit and a large portion of hazelnut husks, chocolate and no bitterness at the back, but heather flavors with some licorice and caramel

    • Nose
Honey, grass, flower meadow, strawberries, blackberries, melon, herb candy, nuts, a little cinnamon, dried herbs

Very sweet and even here no disturbing alcohol despite over 65%
    • Taste
Honey, applesauce, strawberries, blackberries, lime, roasted almonds, walnuts, coffee, pepper

initially some smoke, a hint of potato chips with a hint of bacon. A little bit alcoholic (slightly stinging the nose), sweet and heavy sherry notes, lots of sweet baking spices. Delicious!
    • Taste
      88 88
Warm to the touch: slightly oily, spicy but also soft, hardly starts, sweet, a hint of smoke, a little oak, sweet and spicy, baking spices.
+ H2O: soft, spicy, aromatic, sweet-bitter, a touch of barrel and coffee, a little dark chocolate, raisins, sherry
    • Finish
      88 88
spicy-tart-sweet, soft, intense, some oak and barrel, first a hint of chocolate, then slightly sweet and malty. Long and pleasantly relaxing.
There is plenty of scope. A good and aromatic whisky. With the right amount of water a very tasty one.
