10 years ago, I was a fanboy of this distillery, but in the standard area, the quality has diminished greatly, and I'm not going to start here on Walhalla, gods and other marketing. I really liked last year's singlecasks, but this one doesn't work, because you seem to have gotten out of the barrel selection. For me that by far the worst release in this series. If the issue price for this quality is already more than ambitious, then I can not understand the prices on the secondary market for this bottling at all. The problem will probably be that very few can try before they decide to buy - 82 points
    • Nose
      82 82
Nose: Due to the high alcohol content it is very restless in the nose, the alcohol is not really well integrated. The Oloroso herry is present with plums, dark toffee, grape nut chocolate, but also wet and musty oak, which brings in addition to spice a few notes of foul wood. Neat water does not really make it any rounder, it also adds strong tobacco and leather flavors, but also some maggie herb
    • Taste
      82 82
clear Olorososherry (raisins, plum and toffee), distinct oak, which has a very bitter touch, in the background light heather flavors
    • Finish
      81 81
medium to long, sherry, oak, licorice, balsamic vinegar, burnt heather, the back becomes bitter and dry

I really like this HP. The alcohol is very well integrated. Only it becomes a bit too bitter on the palate and in the finish.
    • Nose
Fruity smoky start, dried fruits embedded in a pleasant, slightly sweet smoke, some citrus fruits in the background, as well as slightly dark chocolate, slightly spicy. The alcohol works very well, it only becomes stronger later.
    • Taste
Strong start with smoked ham quickly transitioning into aromas of dried fruits, slightly sweet but still a bit sour, chocolate, pepper, then becoming bitterly dry
    • Finish
strong finish, rough with a hint of ash, dark chocolate, bitter and becoming dry, long-lasting, the sherry aromas are more to be found in the background

Nice but quite strong sherry HP, can evolve in the glass
    • Nose
Dark plums and rum-soaked chocolate, after few sips - a lot of leather
    • Taste
Medium-dark sherry(raisins, plum?), oak and leather, after few sips - a layer of meaty flavor
    • Finish
Medium, alcohol bite appear, leather mixed with sweet sherry

It's not bad. I personally don't like it that much. Looks a bit dull and uncouth. The actually pleasant moderate HP smoke looks unclean here and the sherry is not really elegant either.
    Overall, a not homogeneous whisky.

I do not know the other SingelCasks and I find it really great here
the nose is really cool and I can sniff it endlessly
    you can still give water
    • Nose
Sherry, raisins, black, leather increases, light oak, dark cocoa, light gum, nice red berries (blackberry), thyme, light red wine, apple
with water: more leather, more sherry, more oak, maggot herb, chocolate 60%, tart, pastries like the waffles in the ice cream parlor, more red berries, light vanilla
    • Taste
full and strong on the palate
Raisins, nice sherry, currant, red wine
with water: softer, tart, strong oak, chocolate 65%, leather
      later sulfur and rotten eggs
    • Finish
      Sherry, light oak, tart
with water: even more bitter, more sherry, neat currant, espresso, dark chocolate so 75%

Again, I do not understand the hype, some junk, very boring in the variety.
    • Nose
Gingerbread and pure sulfur, knight sport with nuts, camphor, cardamom, maggi, roiboos, dry dates, pumpernickel, dark malt
    • Taste
Cherry pits, gingerbread, sulfur, chocolate, nuts, camphor, maggi, liquorice, espresso, heather, damp hay
    • Finish
Maggi, chestnut, liquorice, cherry kernels, medium long

  9. mds51 scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

By far the worst release of the single cask series by far
    • Nose
Wood, old leather, forest honey, floral notes, some fudge in the background
    • Taste
Spicy on tap, light smoke, a touch of bitterness, dark dark chocolate
    • Finish
The spiciness and bitterness of the barrel remains present for a long time, medium-length finish
