    Notes of the Bottler:
Please note that our latest Family Silver release is a “teaspooned “ malt from arguably the most famous distillery in Speyside. The distillery in question built its sterling reputation by being heavily sherried in style and our bottling is packed full of stewed fruits, rich sherry and spice. A truly delicious dram.

Notes of la Boutique du Chemin:
Making the analysis of the bottlers comments, it can be only or a 99?..% Glenfarclas or MacAllan.
As we know it is not a Glenfarclas, you can make your conclusion.
After tasting we can only confirm our first idea.

    • Nose
      91 91
Nougatine, hazelnut paste, cranberry and toffee. Behind the blanket of sherry there's apple and peach. Water releases a woodiness.
    • Taste
      92 92
Tobacco, mocha, blackberry, hazelnut paste and leather.
    • Finish
      91 91
Mocha, blackberry, hazelnut paste and tobacco.

A very strange and special blend. In my opinion not bad, but unfortunately no grenade. Somehow I am disturbed by the sulphurous fruits and the partly musty notes of sulfur, whereby I somehow react to some kind of sulfur "allergic" ... Good drinkable, but also very special.

    • Nose
Relatively bright caramel with a reddish glow shines in the Premium Snifter. Slightly musty sulphured berries and grapes emerge, smoky elements appear minimally, while the nose is characterized by dirty earth tones and dark, yellow fruits. Lightly burnt sugar and old, hard toffee follow ... The nose changes and old leather comes to the fore with dried tobacco leaves. Apricot and velvety peach sparkle on, minimally brings back a hint of sulfur in combination with dark yellow fruit and earthy, smoky elements to the fore. The nose does not really know what she wants: sometimes it is dirty earthy, sometimes smoky, sometimes sweet and characterized by dark yellow fruits, the slightly sulphurous and musty note just does not want to be overcome by the other flavors ...
    • Taste
Mild, the first sip flows over the tongue. Smoky dark and fermented fruit come to light, the musty fruit aroma ends in chocolate, a touch of espresso and subtle sharpness. Also in terms of taste, this "Blended Malt Scotch Whiskey" does not really know what he wants. Sweetness, fruit, chocolate, smoke, light sulfur, cherries and peaches, spicy wood tones and a hint of tobacco with wet leather. As the Schwabe says: "Von ällem ebbes", in high German: "something of everything" ...
    • Finish
The aftertaste starts with hazelnuts and spicy cedar wood. Slowly, muffy sulfur aroma rises again, whereby I do not really feel the sulfurous aroma as disturbing. Old walnuts mingle with a hint of tobacco and leather, the fruity elements are hardly noticeable to me. Caramel and nut chocolate dissolve dominant walnuts and again a hint of tobacco ...

He smells like Glenfarclas but tastes more like Macallan. I can not fix myself here. Although it is a very nice malt all in all, it is just too mild for 50% ABV from the First Fill Olorosso barrel and therefore a bit boring. I had expected more sherry and a little more strength here. Price-performance is okay.

Great sherry malt. Relatively old school. The tobacco or smoke is a bit too much for me. Overall, my nose was much rounder and more stimulating than the taste. But it's definitely worth trying :)

a great whiskey with good PLV
    • Nose
      93 93
old sherry, leather, cocoa, nougat praline, mobile polish, fruits like apple, plum
    • Taste
      92 92
Cocoa, raisins, nice chocolate flavors, nuts, tobacco, a little glue pot
    • Finish
      93 93
      warm, long, sweet

This whiskey needs time, nothing in between. If you give it to them, you will be rewarded especially with the smell. The texture less oily than the nose can expect. The finish is unfortunately a bit short and without the right power, so that the jump over the 90 does not succeed
    • Nose
      92 92
At first light smoke, the smell of a dried-on remainder sherry and old, polished leather dominate, later (cashew?) Nuts and delicate fruit notes are also found
    • Taste
      90 90
The impressions of the nose are confirmed on the palate: soft smoke, old leather (now without the polish), tobacco, nuts, nutmeg, blackberry varnish, the oak spice squeezes and leaves behind a kind of bitterness of coffee or cocoa
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium length with some sherry sweetness, oak and tobacco
