Whisky Reviews for Cotswolds Distillery 2014 - Odyssey Barley

- Clearly young, but extremely fruity (banana dominates), well balanced and assertive. Nice toffeed finish. Very good.
vannile en fruitig
tingling and a little straw-like
stays full in the mouth for a longer time and gives a nice aftertaste
Smooth nose, dried fruits and apples.
The oak is present, but as it's a youngster, it hasn't quite smoothed out just yet. Overall a bit mellow, not giving too much away.
Medium-long. Hints of liquorice.
- For a 3 year old surprisingly clean drinking. A decent dram
- Quite well succeeded this 3 year old whisky. You would expect that there are some sharp edges that are normally smoothed out over the years, but to my surprise it is already pretty mild.
Still, I miss something. Maybe it is a bit too smooth, too little diversity in the taste palette. It reminds me the most of a (rather flat) variant of a macallan fine oak. I think it can become a popular drink! They are certainly well on their way.
Price is still a thing. I think 45 pounds is still 10 too many, considering that you can also find classics like a Clynelish 14, Ardbeg 10 and (with a little search) Lagavulin 16 for that money. Then it is just expensive for a 3 year old whisky. But ... definitely worth a try!
