Right after opening the bottle for me this whisky was simple not palatable . There was very little to be experienced besides an overwhelming bitterness from a very bad cask - in my humble opinion. With good will there were some dry cider and bitter lime pith.
After almost one year of being open and occasional decanting the whisky is becoming better, but not good and far from being recommended. While the bitterness is receding, fruit aromas like apples and lime are coming through - plus some nutshell and banana peel. Water doesn't help either.
It's sad that that bottle turned out to be one of my rare misses. And it's sad for Douglas Laing which I have the highest regards for - under different circumstances.
