Whisky Reviews for Arran 1995 MBl

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.87 points

  1. dRambo scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Thick, sweet, full-bodied - very reminiscent of a long matured Bourbon (whisky), it is clearly a scotch only I rarely have such intense Vorbelegungsassoziationen in such a barrel.
    • Nose
It starts with a sour, diffusely fruity nose with delicate adhesive notes that immediately cause an Exbourboncaskassoziations.
Later, honey shows clearly - fresh lemon and lemon drops, slight exotic fruit note, buttery creamy oak aroma
    • Taste
syrup-like viscidity, fresh crisp oak, tree juice, orange peel, apple juice, mint-pepper-ginger, grapefruit with peel, lemon dessert, bitter-sweet-nutty - a touch of soap - rather furniture polish with a touch of glue, blue cheese, dark chocolate
    • Finish
sweet - spicy, bittersweet, subtly fruity, increasingly herbaceous with lots of tree juice / fresh green wood

  2. DocF scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

    Color: Old Gold

Probably not the best 22-year-old Arran that will happen. Little balance and thin, Arran in general does not seem to me for older age, at least not without more (sherry) barrel.
    • Nose
Alcoholic without water, dry wood, caraway. Air helps a little. With water: thinner.
    • Taste
Less alcohol than expected, less dry wood, Baileys, elderflower, buttery, thin body. With water: oatmeal, elderflower, marzipan.
    • Finish
Medium long, elderflower, nutmeg, summer blossom honey.

  3. Achany scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

sweet, some vanilla, some honey, some fruits as well. but I did expect more. there was too much oak for me, bitter at times, but too less spices, would have expected a bit more complexity. finish is not too bad but nothing special either.
