    Conclusion and pictures on: https://tomtrinkt.de
    • Nose
Very strong nose! The aging of a quarter of a century in a First Fill Sherry Butt and the high alcohol content (still 59.2% cask strength!) Clearly indicate that the GlenDronach is not an aromatic lightweight. After the first breaths above the rim of the glass (the alcohol stands out easily), I ask myself the not unimportant question, whether the malt was completely overrun by the sherry or taste still a wonderfully coherent overall picture will deliver? But in turn: within a good half hour, various flavors have unfolded. Heavy sherry notes without end, raisins, plums, dates, cinnamon, nutmeg, dark forest honey, slightly sweet pipe tobacco, burnt crumb crème brûlée, dark chocolate with cocoa content beyond 70%, strong leather aromas, a touch of coffee, balsamic and spicy notes of oak very interwoven.
    • Taste
Incredibly full-bodied and strong. The strong alcohol pushes powerful and leaves together with the spicy wood notes a handsome tingling at the tip of the tongue. The heavy sherry notes are omnipresent: Dried fruits, Christmas spices, leather, balsamic, pipe tobacco, dried orange peel, creme brulee, dark forest honey, roasted gravy, a touch of malt beer, espresso, plenty of dark chocolate and strong oak notes give the GlenDronach a nice complexity. The mouthfeel is already noticeably bitter and dry. As GlenDronach fan and sherryliebhaber is reached for my feeling in this single cask bottling the sherry border. It is incredibly difficult to say how the whisky would have evolved in the next few years, but the filling time after 25 years has been very good for my personal taste.
    • Finish
Very long, sherry without end and spicy. Again heavy sherry notes with a lot of dark chocolate, blood oranges, walnuts, leather and strong oak notes follow. The GlenDronach leaves a slight bitterness and a very strong dryness on the palate.

a viscous sweet "sticks" after pouring all the flavors. the whisky needs 25 minutes in the air to develop.
    • Nose
sherry, plum jam with cinnamon sticks, dried dates / fig potpourri, whistle tobacco (danske club vanilla), a touch of balsamic vinegar & leather, sugar cane honey.
    • Taste
sherry, liquid honey, orange-dark chocolate with caramel splinters, roasted almonds, pepper mix, oak.
    • Finish
oak, cherry, tobacco, leather, cocoa - dry and long towards the end, occupies the tongue.

Powerful but very balanced - good complexity, no faulty notes - fantastic!
    • Nose
      93 93
Dried fruits, plums, figs, dates, dark honey, milk chocolate, nutmeg, cinnamon, sherry notes - very fine and balanced - excellent!
    • Taste
      92 92
Punchy, oily, liquorice, citrus fruits, blood oranges, subtle sweetness, spices, pepper, sherry wood, dark chocolate - great!
    • Finish
      91 91
Long, warm, more spices, more chocolate - really good

Nosing: Deep dark, dried fruit, buttery-sweet creme brulee, strong and fruity sherry, raisins, voluminous, many spices with oak, behind it a light, alcoholic note, vanilla and fragrant heather with leather

Tasting: Full and heavy sherry, dark fruits, intense powerful and spicy, brown sugar, bittersweet, oak

With water: still very strong, fruity and spicy

Comment: Very aromatic and ripe. Here you can see the age. Needs 30min in the air to open. You get an incredibly fruity-sweet kick to brown sugar, if you quickly put air between your teeth, the whisky would be in the mouth.

    • Nose
Old leather, polished oak. Dusty attic, some candle wax, dried raisins. Sweet pipe tobacco and a hint of menthol, some BBQ sauce. Forest soil, tree bark, foliage. Behind it grated orange peel and raspberry cake. Eucalyptus, sage. A touch of diesel.
    • Taste
Heavy and spicy. Leather, walnut, steak pepper. Some beeswax, honey, marzipan. Crème brûlée with slices of orange. A lot of old wood and chocolate sauce. Rump steak, espresso. Long with a sticky, dry bitterness.

Saulecker, after that a whisky evening can end.
    • Nose
old wooden stairs, furniture polish, floor wax, resin ... forest honey, cola gums ... there is more to come, but I stop before it gets too esoteric. ;-)
    • Taste
full board - oak, beet syrup, Storck giant, dark berry jam, roasted almonds, tobacco, leather
    • Finish
long, lots of dark chocolate, oak, cola, old leather

A PX barrel in front of the Lord, full of sweetness. I had better ones in 1993, but of course I still had great whisky.
    • Nose
Slightly nutty, a bit like in a shoe factory, leather, rather dry in the basic tone, roasted aromas, then it becomes creamier, a little mint, chocolate, citrus, the alcohol is already pressing properly, tobacco, spicy
after the first sip, it almost glows in the nose, as if you had made an infusion with the whisky, not meant negatively, here now more sweetness, paired with this slightly spicy tobacco note, orange, nice to smell, but no absolute nasal whisky with that I could only smell for half an hour now
    • Taste
a lot of steam, light sweetness, roasted aromas, raisins, creamy, sticky, now clearly goes in the direction of PX in the mouth, the second sip is sweeter, yes that must be PX, massive raisins, some spice, espresso in the background, some oak, but the sweetness is already dominant
Water takes the steam in something and makes drinking more pleasant, but does not fundamentally change the aromas
    • Finish
the sweetness lasts, it gets drier, it still sticks in the mouth and one tends to smack, grapes, long-lasting, already quite sweet and I have the feeling that over time it gets sweeter again

A gorgeous malt! Punchy sherry, floral overtones, sweetness, good balanced oak. The only thing that keeps it from even greater heights is a touch too much bitterness on the palate. Its alleviated with water however. Overall a very good Glendronach.
    • Nose
      93 93
Rum-infused plums, cookie dough, and cola. Quite the start! The alcohol carries this well. Very floral for its age, velvety even, with Turkish delight and orange oil.
    • Taste
      91 91
Orange liqueurs, caramel fudge, and mint chocolate. The tannins are loud, imparting bitterness without dryness. Sparkling honey dew juice, smoked vanilla, and saw dust.
    • Finish
      91 91
Medium-long. Caramelized oak chips, and faint black tea. Mildly drying.
