Whisky Reviews for Aberlour 1992 WhB

9 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.27 points

  1. thijs100 scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Very close to entering that elusive 90 point range, but there's just a tad too much oak. Lovely stuff nonetheless.
    • Nose
A thin layer of sugary sweetness as an overlay for aromas such as walnuts and straw, as well a succinct earthiness and butterscotch, with a distinct note of grape marc and ripe apple parts (I mean when you've left them out in the open for just too long). In the background there's more room for raspberries and brambles. I like the complexity and contrast.Yeah, very satisfying indeed. Somewhat spicy (cinnamon mainly, but also some ginger), but then there's plenty of space left for thick, syrupy caramel, and bitter oranges, as well as ripe apple. Plenty of oak here as well.
    • Taste
Yeah, very satisfying indeed. Somewhat spicy (cinnamon mainly, but also some ginger), but then there's plenty of space left for thick, syrupy caramel, and bitter oranges, as well as ripe apple. Plenty of oak here as well.
    • Finish
Spicy and sweet. Medium to long in length.

    Beautiful complex dram.
    • Nose
Very powerful and fragrant nose. Right in front a handful of forest fruits, blackberries, raspberries. In the background is the well-known pepper to smell, which we will see in the taste. There is also some tobacco to observe.
    • Taste
The taste is spicy and slightly bitter. The fruits return to the tongue and push the bitter character to the background and fill your mouth with their sweetness.
    • Finish
Beautiful, full, creamy finish. Medium to long.

  3. daverdaz scored this whisky 92 points Expert Junior

At the Whiskybroker bottlings, I am always skeptical. Price is top, taste but almost always average or below. This one definitely not. He convinced me completely! A dreamlike aroma profile that convinces in smell and taste. No overloaded sherry bomb with intrusive sherry notes. But a very fine and quite complex bottling, as expected from a 25 year old whisky. Price performance TOP !!!!
    • Nose
(for information: I'm passing the whisky in the 1920s Blenders glass) A beautiful sweetness jumps right in your face! Reminds me of melted macadamia / caramel ice cream. Added to this are floral notes. No miss notes to find, on the contrary, a beautiful sherry nose, complex, complex, sweet and really a dream!
    • Taste
Strong start, the 52.7% have plenty of power. The mouthfeel is pleasant and also reflects the taste of what you smelled again. A lot of nut and caramel, nice sweet and strong with a great oak flavor in the back. Again, no false notes!
    • Finish
The Malt stays on the tongue for a long time. In fact, very long. The last sip is over a minute ago and I still have the malt on my tongue. At the back the beautiful oak is very present.
