A delicious and tasty malt for sociable hours. Nothing special, but uncomplicated and tasty. Like and taste ...

    21/21/21/22 (85P)
    • Nose
Intense amber with a reddish glow radiates from the glass. Pleasant peat smoke mixes with sour berries, the peat has a mineral effect and the smoky note is kept in the background at the moment. Malty and slightly greasy, the smoke becomes more intense, while caramel and toffee create a sweet component. Maritime echoes and red fruits appear, raisins and dates mingle with candied grapes. Sugar and sweet berries are enveloped by a peaty smoky note, I look forward to the first sip ...
    • Taste
A smoky fruit note is on the tongue for seconds, followed by caramelised sugar and spicy oak. Gradually, the palate fills with chubby warmth and smoky pungency, a pinch of pepper falls on the tongue, dark slightly sour fruits come to light. Smoky and spicy, the taste passes with a creamy fruit note in the finish.
    • Finish
Smoky and creamy, red berries stick to the palate, caramel and toffee float on the tongue, spicy wood tones appear. At least a hint of chocolate appears, then the aftertaste with sweet fruit flavors and a peaty smoky note.

sweet-spicy port wine whisky. For around 30 euros a really good whisky with port and sweet fruits and a peppery spice. You hardly feel the smoke. I find it interesting with this whisky that the nose, the taste and the finish - for me - are / remain relatively identical. - The longer the whisky is standing, the sharper / more peppery it becomes.
If the jar is empty and remains with the lid on, then a sharp ginger aroma develops again in the jar.

first a bit of smoke (I was mentally prepared for more, whereby the smoke is very well integrated into the sweetness), followed by a heavy, sweet aroma of red & dark (dry) fruits (i.e. typical port wine flavors that can be expected / may). Then there is honey with a sweet orange aroma along with a light spice (for me it goes first towards nutmeg and cinnamon and then later towards hot ginger / pepper).

sweetness and the red dried fruit with the port note again. Then there is a spiciness (for me more nutmeg), which initially turns out to be rather sweet - interesting. On the second sip I tend to peppery seasoning / hot ginger. A little more smoke is coming through now. The taste of orange is a little more subdued, but it is still there. At the back, the whisky becomes drier and a chocolate aroma (cocoa content very high) still arises.

medium. Becomes drier with a port oak note. Very light smoke remains. A dry cocoa chocolate (80-90%) sticks to the tongue; but no bitterness.
