Nose: neat: Peat smoke, sherry sweetness (it seems), salty, seaweed and barbecue. with water: Smoke is slightly less present with the sweetness and the barbecue notes coming more upfront. Water also takes away a slight alcohol edge that is felt when neat!
Taste: neat: Excellent peat smoke flavour, together with a sweet note (but less than on the nose) and some spicy notes. with water: much more spicy than neat, with more iodine and less sweetness. Some tar also appears on the trail-end.
Finish: medium-long with peat and the sherry-type sweetness lasting the most. with water: it's kind of strange but the finish is actually drier when water is added. Finish is again medium-long, with lots of iodine, spices, smoke and tar notes.
Comments: Loved this whisky, to my taste, it's brilliant. It has lots of depth, complexity of flavours all of which go hand-in-hand with the "standard" Laphroaig (islay) peatiness!
MY SCORE: Highly Recommended +
