Whisky Reviews for Bruichladdich 2008

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.29 points

  1. ASWhisky scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

Unfortunately, nose, mouth and finish have a little schnapps feeling
the flavors are good and interesting
    • Nose
the Oloroso is good to smell
Walnut shells and old thin leather
      beautiful herbs
      vanilla
a somewhat schnappige Mon Cherie note behind it
      dark nougat
      dark earth after rain
again and again the walnut shells and the Mon Cherie
      behind it young schnapps
    • Taste
      easy schnapsiger start
then immediately the walnut shells, some leather
dark nougat, herbs, all pretty intense
on the palate, however, remains the fleeting schnapps
    • Finish
      medium
a bit bitter on the palate
      Nougat, herbs, the walnut shells
      the finish is rather fleeting

  2. Archer scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

The Bruichladdich character is recognizable - unfortunately with alcohol in the nose and on the tongue rather a poser. Burst into the saloon with a roar - and then just order a glass of milk.
    • Nose
At the beginning slightly stinging alcohol with fermented grapes, a herbal mix and rotting wood.
Nut brittle, whole milk chocolate, dried tobacco leaves. The alcohol stays.
    • Taste
Spicy and very strong onset. Dark chocolate, toffee, sour apple. Dry, earthy, woody, musty.
    • Finish
Medium to short, very dry. Dark chocolate still a trace of apple, the fermented grapes from the nose. Then it's already gone.

  3. Drk Neknul scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Eye / nose Strong golden - clear apple juice. Sherry aromas on the nose, followed by a strong torrent of alcohol, which reminds me of the quite characteristic New Make of the Islay distillery. Very restrained then toasted bread, raisins, ground barley. Nice scent, maybe a little bit alcoholic for my nose. palate A velvety yet powerful malt. The slightly spritigen approaches in smell are fortunately passé. Of course, the power of the 58% ABV does a lot of warmth, it stays a little bit sharp, but everything is completely in Frame for a cask strength. Caramel, vanilla, some oak, dried fruits. Pleasant sweetness. Nice ... Finish / Conclusion Medium-long, slightly floury-looking, herbal-earthy finish, It leaves a taste that reminds me, even after repeated tasting, of the impression that leaves the inside of a bun, if you eat it in isolation. Remarkably pleasant mouthfeel by the way, while the Islay House goes. The finish is not an outstanding highlight but certainly not to complain about. A successful, 'clean' young malt with no real weaknesses, as long as you, like me, take no offense at the slight nausea in your nose. The flavors of the different barrel types are quite perceptible, as well as the Laddie Destilleriecharakter. Incidentally, the malt harmonizes well with a few drops of water, then looks more open and even more present. Further notes and reviews on Facebook at #Maltkanzlei
