    Blind sample

Think I guessed Octomore, which i feel good about. I’ve been embarrassed enough to take the small victories.

    Whisky on steroids.
    • Nose
      86 86
Popcorn kernels in hot oil, not so winey yet, the alcohol and peat mask it. Almost mezcal like, very clean and sharp, herbal (aloe Vera). Cigarette ash
    • Taste
      87 87
Powerful, popcorn, hot oil, ashy, red berries, earthy, aloe.
    • Finish
      86 86
Long long long. Ash for days. Winey on red berries, calcium tablets, twigs. Dry.

  2. Andara scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

    Nose: Fruits, glue and vingear
Mouth: Powerfull start, the alcoohol dominates before it makes room for rosewater, red berries and salt
Finish: Nice, long and then suddenly very dry

I am usally sceptic with wine cases, even though there are quite some examples for highly peated spirit excelling in them (Hello Octomore 2.2). This is one of the more successfull examples but does not fully excite me. Good stuff though and Martin always delivers! 87/100

  3. Ostap scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

A wonderful style of whisky and no less a beautiful example of this style. Saturated, rich in nuances, with a very long aftertaste. Chic to drink. I really like this farm style.
    • Nose
      91 91
Fruit, farm, sour peat, tincture on herbs and roots, mineral, stuffing of candies "Crayfish", noticeably salty, cow dung, medical medicine, in general a very strong medical theme, bandages, septic tanks, etc., mint / eucalyptus, a little citrus, tobacco, sheep fur, nightshade berries, cranberries in powdered sugar, anise, delicate smoked and smoky.
    • Taste
      92 92
Very sweet, sour, juicy, peat, smoky, farm, citrus, later becomes salty, berries, BBQ, oily, the degree is not felt.
    • Finish
      92 92
Very long, sweet, citrus, peat, ash, fuel oil, potion, dry, BBQ.

Young, bright and a little clumsy, light enough despite the degree
    • Nose
Bright and young, a little manure, overripe strawberries, currants and fruit juice
    • Taste
Fermented strawberry jam, some pepper and sherry
    • Finish
Dry, spices, young wood, fruit syrup

Nose: Cool! It feels not a weak degree ... berries, currant leaves, grape vinegar ... a little booze (gives up youth). After adding water, the booze is felt more clearly (but not critical, somewhere far away ...
Taste: light anesthesia, strength is felt, but gently ... again black currant, varnish, polish, salt, iodine, in conclusion - blood and sweat ...
Aftertaste: Do not wash it off with water! We'll have to pick out the teeth.
With regard to age - excellent!

  10. Alex Fridays scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

    Colour: amber.
Nose: sweet, light fruit rottenness, light peated smoke, berries, anise, chocolate and cocoa.
Mouth: sweet, strong dryness, pepper, light peated smoke, berries and chocolate.
Finish: long with spices, berries, pepper, light peated smoke.
This Port Charlotte had perfect balance between sweetness and peatness. It’s a very tasty, which needs in time to be opened.
