this is an excellent malt. Incredibly complex and aromatic. Extremely complex and there is a lot to discover, especially in the nose.
I would say this one was bottled at the perfect time.
The malt requires a lot of time and attention, but it's definitely worth it!

many exotic fruits at the beginning and some pineapple is included. Then wonderful old oak notes come to the fore. Honey and wax, some cinnamon, subtly sweet, wonderful dark and aromatic fruits, herbs, some leather, citrus, orange peel, plums, lychee. Cloves and nutmeg appear later for a very short time
    • Taste
      94 94
very aromatic and voluminous attack, a real fruit basket appears at the beginning with some fruit acid and a very slight dryness. Pine needles, citrus fruits, honey and wax, old leather, grandma's oak cupboard, slightly creamy and oily later. But the fruit basket always resonates in the foreground. Wonderfully complex
    • Finish
      92 92
rather reserved, creamy with some sweetness and vanilla. Then the fruit and the fruit acid show up again, albeit less intensely. At first it gave the impression that the finish would be quite short and boring. But the fruits and the fruit acid stay behind for a very long time.

    Very nice exotic fruits.
    Ripe pineapple and coconut.
    Just wow!

  3. SimonOHA scored this whisky 94 points Expert Senior

My only complaint would be that it lacks length, otherwise it's really top notch. Immediate pleasure and easy complexity. Excellent.
    • Nose
Powerful and sweet nose at the same time, strong diluted tropical aromas (without being watery). Melted and milky hot wax. Allowed to breathe, the tropical fruits stop fighting and line up: mango, banana, pineapple on the podium. Bold on the orange flower leaf. The passion fruits then come back in force. Light spray of varnish all over. It smells very good.
    • Taste
Incredibly good mouthfeel. The tropical fruits are all there, melted. Superb spices accompany the whole. End of mouth on the old caramelized dust. Everything is controlled, everything is balanced. It's really excellent.
    • Finish
Hot finish, the power is there but without being alcoholic. Coppery notes of roasted fruit skins. Creamy brioche.

Fruit bomb with spices. We need to give time. Aroma - wax, exotic fruits, flowers, sherry notes; taste even more tropical fruits, spices, notes of oak; long finish 23-23-23-23

One of the best „modern“ profiles I tasted so far.

Fantastic. What more do you want? I still wonder what the real story behind these casks is. Anyway: This is great stuff and it is one of the even better of the already great "40y+ speyside" bottlings. Full review (german): https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2021/01/12/die-geheimnisse-der-speyside/

    Color: Deep Copper

After 2cl without a partner it was boring at the beginning, the idea was already there to bring the bottle under the Forum, then the enlightenment - a lot of degraded wood aroma, nothing edgy, cooler, exotic in a different way and much more waxy. Strikes a notch next to the other two ... Nose party, a few drops of water are allowed.
    • Nose
It already seemed strongly bourbonesque to me during the Nibble sample, after all the well-seasoned oak in the other samples, there is not that much left of cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg and cloves. That doesn't change the fact that wood is in the foreground, cinnamon yes, overripe lychee, Far Eastern “plum” wine and tea, ginseng tea, mushy pears, resin, beeswax, a little paraffin. Good pouring is unfortunately a must, then dried pineapple, passion fruit and some papaya come out. Artificial strawberry flavor. Pine needles, and celery. With water: sooty, dry bark, incense sticks, maybe some incense, and more floral. Later a whole beehive comes to life, plus water mint and river water.
    • Taste
Rather sweet and dry than fruity and dry, a lot of lychee, a lot of cinnamon, some ginger, ginseng tea and plum wine in large quantities, removes soot, propolis, acacia and linden honey. Dried pineapple, lemon peel and jasmine tea. Lilac blossom. Beeswax. With water: fruits, honey, tea, everything as usual, plus a lot more beehive, and incense. Shoe polish, polished oak, tree sap, wet bark, and water mint.
    • Finish
First a boring fade-out with some hot coffee and lilac blossom; Lychee and jasmine blossoms come back to life later, along with fir resin and wet bark. Remarkable: not dry.

    Very exotic fruits profie.
Unique evolving, delicate nose, punchy fruity palate with really nice medium long finish.
Alcohol could be slightly more integrated but i dont regres buying this bottle.

Begins a bit closed with a slight hint of bitterness and subtle fino sherry. Give it time though! What a change time makes, it totally opens up and becomes a fruit bomb. Superb.

noble teen notes, dried flowers, subtle perfectly interwoven wax notes, crystalline lemon, mineral powdered sugar with powdered lemon drops, dried pineapple, yogurt, coconut cream, vanilla, always sweeter and more fruity - very clear and clean, a fine, light yeast note initially reduced my upper class nose - this one but flies when the nose opens, very round tasty thing. The 75 from Zanzibar without a mask is even more intense
    • Taste
      94 94
Exotic fruit explosion I find everything from the nose on the palate, sweet and sour delicious, melon, citrus, mango, pineapple, lychee, sparkling, pulsating, very creamy full-bodied smooth oak - reminiscent of the mouthfeel very much like coconut cream - but tastes more like coconut cookies - light Roasted notes
    • Finish
      90 90
creamy with a lot of vanilla and fresh coconut cream, mild sweetness with great floral aromas, delicate citrus oils and pepper dance on the palate, white chocolate

On the same level as the greatest Speysiders from 73 - extreme fruitiness, sweetness and balance that I like very much - fantastic!
    • Nose
      97 97
Tropical fruits galore, mango, pineapple and so on, sticky sweet, notes of overripe fruits, glue and solvent, spices, pepper - superb!
    • Taste
      96 96
Very fruity, sweet, honey, all the tropical fruits again, fine oak wood, little vanilla, ginger, more spices - excellent!
    • Finish
      95 95
Long, warm, sweet and fruity, more spicy, not drying

Amazing nose. Complex with syrupy fruit concentrate, ginger and other spices and herbs.

  23. gango4 scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

Outstanding nose that plays out the full age, very balanced in the mouth and a tasty finish.
    • Nose
Immediately after pouring fantastic! Wow what a nose. Sweet, fermenting fruits, tropical. Powerful, but no trace of alcohol. Like sticking your head into a drained but still dripping barrel, because that's where oak comes. With a little warmth then very light, delicate spices are added.
    • Taste
Gentle and round. The same flavors reappear as in the nose. Only he is a little fresher here with light Trabeubes and less fermented, but rather unripe fruit.
    • Finish
In the finish takes over the oak, the fruits retreat. Medium. Demands for more! Dangerous.
