Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes as distilleries involved in this charming blend !?
    • Nose
cooked apple, peach, honey, vanilla and sugar!
      dry wood,
characteristic sherry note with a sweet sensation !!
    • Taste
spices, fruits on apples and oranges cooked,
      wooded back
it's sweet, creamy, fragrant with wood, cinnamon and caramel
    • Finish
quite long indeed, on the same scents, but in an undifferentiated way too
a good dram not to take the head!

Blindtasting advent calendar, weak nosing, good taste & finish, about 47%, no bad, has quite a character.
    • Nose
      70 70
Light fruits, apple juice, alcohol, rather weak than complex, no smoke
    • Taste
      80 80
      Balanced spice, soft, oily,
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium length, slightly explosive, slight bitterness from the wooden barrel

This younger Scallywag is clearly less determined by sherry cask maturation than its 13 year old brother bottling, but demonstrates a rich aroma profile of fruity peaches, complemented with lingering vanilla sweetness and nicely balanced with warming, autumnal spices. A delicate all-day dram. Gains with a few drops of water, too.

    • Nose
Fruity start on the nose with apricots, yellow ripe apples and juicy peaches. Sweet with vanilla and a touch of floral notes in the back. Behind that oak spice and cinnamon emerge, nicely followed by honey and a touch of mocha.
    • Taste
Bold and intense on the palate with a warming mix of spiced oak, black pepper and cinnamon. Sweet notes of caramel, vanilla and brown sugar arrive, followed by roasted oak and creamy notes of peaches towards the finish.
    • Finish
The finish is long, warm and creamy with lingering spices, a honeyed sweetness, subtle floral notes and a touch of dry oak on the tail.

With water: Water brings out more fruitiness with loads of peaches and also vanilla sweetness. Still bold and spicy on the palate with black pepper and oak, accompanied by vanilla and peach. The finish is a bit shorter, slightly warming and a touch drier with oak and pepper.

Not quite on par with it's 13 year old brother, but a very proper, rich blended malt nonetheless. I doubt this'll disappoint anyone.
    • Nose
Plenty of sweetness, lots of cotton candy and brown sugar, with some roasted almonds as well. A good amount of honey too, as well as some cappuccino and pralines. Very agreeable, in spite of the hint of copper coins.
    • Taste
A very sweet arrival, which is a further indicator of the sherry maturation. Some nice cherry syrup as well as milk chocolate, but also a fair amount of spices, like a subtle pepperiness and cloves too.
    • Finish
Lingering spiciness, somewhat drying, and subtle honied sweetness. Medium in length.

Smell sweetly of coffee and honey.
Taste spicy with chocolate and roasted aromas.
    Finish with sugar and cinnamon.

A surprisingly good and pleasant whiskey, very tasty!
