Whisky Reviews for Ardbeg Uigeadail
10 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.33 points
- This is not the Uige I remember from some years back. It's simple and superficial, and lacks those things that made it taste both young and old at the same time. Now it just tastes young.
- 1565) Ardbeg, Uigeadail, The Ultimate (Jan 2018)
2015 - 90pt ⬇️⬇️ 2017 - 83pt, now 2018...
N- So much brighter, zestier and sharper. Ticks on most boxes with apparent creamy fruits, sour passionfruit yogurt with eucalyptus and pine saps. More fruits coming along as it breath with spice of star anise, clove and fresh cotton. Medicinal as it should be, but not the murkiness that I found in Batch 2017. Albeit drop a notch after aired but the pure masculine spirit are back on. (91/22)
P- Dried fruit extract that glaze a layer of waxiness on the palate. Smoked cola and spices candy with rusty peaty nuances. Sprinkle of salt just for the taste and absolutely delicious. Quintessential Islay that I can sip on the whole day. (91/22)
F- Medium long, well layered fresh and clean distillate caress on the tongue with tasty peat, spices, waxy fruits and bright zest. All elements weaved firmly together and good balanced. (91/22)
Weighted Rate- 88pt. Batch 2019 waiting on the shelves.
- delivery doesn't seem to match the nose but still powerful stuff
wow, a complex of mature fruit notes and peat
sherry notes; in amongst peat asserts itself
medium; quite heavy and a little dry, verging into that ashiness
- Nose comes in unpleasantly sharp, but the finish is great.
- last version
peat, citrus, spices, woody, wet herbs
apart from the fat peat, the citrus is cooked, macerated, almost caramelized, the wood soaked and ... the medicinal corridor, there is also a grilled, toasted side!
simple but effective
long, reassuring because developing now domesticated scents
