Great, what is brought out of just 9 years of maturation here.
    • Nose
Meaty and sweetish. Not spoiled, but fermenting. In spite of the high alcohol content, it leaves undiluted a lot of aromas: red grapes, the smell of an open gummy bag, fresh cut flowers. Some coconut milk, cocoa and cinnamon.
    • Taste
Also undiluted not too strong start. Dried figs and plums, dark chocolate, cocoa, some sulfur, but not disturbing. Spicy with cloves, nutmeg and allspice. A malty note.
    • Finish
Medium to short, with hints of sulfur, nougat, marzipan, cloves and nutmeg.

Sour, salty and yet a lot of soft fruits. A little rough and unbalanced.

too spritty.. 2-5 years would have helped in this cask for sure.. interesting color and nose/taste still but not my type

Another highly enjoyable port cask Bunnahabhain – clean meets dirty, coast meets orchard, light meets dark, – really solid juxtapositions. Recommended.

    • Nose
(the colour here is a pale pink - no options are provided for anything equivalent) A melange of crisp and clean with oily and dirty. Rose petals and red fruits – berries and cherries - are joined by used chip pan oil and burnt out engine cogs. There’s meatiness here – Serrano ham and reduced red wine gravy – as well as a charred burnt toast like aroma. The addition of water reduces the red fruit influence, but adds minerality – metal dust and exhaust fumes.
    • Taste
Oily and viscous with strawberry compote and ashy vapours (not peat smoke). Sugar dusted raspberries and cherries are merged with mineral coastal air, underlying earthiness and pepper. Water is quite interesting here – adding drinking chocolate, creamy milk and some retronasal menthol. It also increases the ashiness, adding a slightly chalkiness – both in flavour and texture.
    • Finish
Medium, with spearmint, flax and hay and a very nice peppery dryness.

    CASK No. 10.148Oily & coastal
    Pretty in pink

After seven years in an ex-bourbon hogshead this whisky was transferred into a 1st fill Port barrique for the remaining 13 months of its maturation. The resulting colour is a resounding pink! On the nose we found rose wine, wine gums, molasses, pink peppercorns, motor oil, old tool boxes, rosewater and various herbs, cut salami and cherry blossom. Water added fennel seed, sea buckthorn and the waft of a ship’s funnel. On the palate we found sea air, saffron, scallop butter, beach foam, hessain, strawberry laces and cherry cough syrup. Whereas reduction brought salted liquorice, Opal fruits, milk chocolate, bramble liqueur and grenadine with a lick of eucalyptus oil in the finish.Issueprice: 63 GBP
