A very intense Sherrynote, heavy, mature, old, fantastic.
A light spiciness hovers over the glass, pickled fruits.

    Creamy, soft in the mouth.
    The oak makes itself felt.
    A wonderful barrel.
    I only marvel venerably.
Sherry, oak, vanilla. That's it ...

    Great!

Guys, you are being fooled! Only 86. And it certainly isn't worth $ 500!

The sherry monster could not be woken up, but the macallan did not try. Positioning itself as a manufacturer of the elite singlemalt, Macallan has created a product that breathes with prosperity, confidence and calmness. It's not for the whisky geek and dissection, it's for the enjoyment.

I would call the aroma - gentle: dried apricots and prunes; coffee and dark chocolate; ginger and cinnamon; everything is felt, everything is in its place, but not bright, passes by, slightly disturbing the receptors.
    • Taste
      87 87
Continuation of the scent; honey-vanilla tones appear; the oak theme is clearly audible, turning into the spice of carnation; nutty note: green hazelnuts and walnuts; alcohol is not felt at all; everything is smooth, everything is delicious, but as if in a “whisper”.
    • Finish
      87 87
Warm, thick, quite expressive, but not long; dried fruits and varnished oak; spice; coffee and chocolate notes; the logical conclusion of the aroma and taste, but the feeling of understatement remains.

This is one of the all time classics. I have had a bottle of this every year since 1997. Over the years it has changed slightly, but always a quality dram. My only complaint as of late is the lower quality sherry caskings than even 8 years ago. Almost like there is more refill than first fill. This scotch deserves to be priced at about $150. $200 or more and you might as well move up to Rare cask which is a much better dram.
    • Nose
Wonderful fruits. Hard to beat Mac 18 nose.
    • Taste
      Buttery smooth. Fruits.
    • Finish
medium and would be better if it was bottled at 46%

"The Macallan Sherry Oak 18 Years Old forms part of our Sherry Oak range which features a series of single malt whiskies matured exclusively in hand-picked sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez for richness and complexity. A full bodied palate of mature oak, ginger and raisin flavours is complimented by a light mahogany natural colour.

    Colour: Light mahogany
Nose: Dried fruits and ginger with hints of vanilla and cinnamon
Palate: Soft and rich, with hints of spice, clove, orange and toasted mature oak
Finish: Lingering with dried fruits, ginger and orange zest"

      Blind Sample:
When pouring a fruity, mature fragrance came to meet me. I'm looking forward to ...

      Colour:
      Nice amber colors

      Nose:
Hot…! Grin on the face. : Love:
Where do I start .... Ripe, set sherry flavors. The radiates somehow peace and balance. Bad to describe. Dried fruits, spices, dry dusty library air. Sour cherries that are more than overripe. Modriges wood, a little licorice and a hint of peppermint. A sourish fruit note is behind it. Something like passion fruit. Some marzipan and dark chocolate.
If you let the guy stand a little, he becomes malty and sweet, through brown sugar, comes through better. Warm must. The alcohol is very back. I have to try now ....
    • Taste
Honey-like onset. Then walnut comes with its bitterness and a pleasant load of spice. I think he is older. In the taste less sweet, rather tart. Herbs, pear, plum, yeast dough. But also has something of plastic and musty notes. Slight sharpness envelops everything suitably, varied. But no alcohol. Some sourish fruit also in the taste.
    • Finish
Medium long and also on the finish more bitterness and dusty. Completely roasted caramel and dried fruit again.
