The nose is really borderline, this Glenfarclas hardly convinces in terms of taste. Only the voluminous and almost endless aftertaste reconciles me a little.

    20/21/22/22 (85P)
    • Nose
Intense amber shimmers in the glass, a syrupy streak sticks to the glass wall of my Premium Snifter, from which small "legs" occasionally detach. Hazelnuts and roasted aromas are creamy on the nose at the first nosing, sweet honey and toffee, a hint of vanilla, plus a (mis) note that I don't know ... The aroma is difficult to define: sweet, grassy, apricot with tannic acid? I give the nose some time to breathe. Ok, even after 20 minutes nothing changes about this indefinable note ...
    • Taste
Tart wood tones flow over the tongue with dark yellow fruit, peppery spiciness emerges, dark honey and old caramel stick to the palate, the spiciness increases noticeably, black pepper then massages the tongue and stimulates the flow of saliva. I also perceive a light grassy or floral note in the taste, hazelnuts float on the tongue, with tart wooden elements the taste slowly fades into the aftertaste ...
    • Finish
Pepper still massages the tip of the tongue, plump warmth sticks to the palate with dark yellow fruit, forest honey and minimally smoky nuances. The aftertaste just turns up, pepper and hazelnuts come into their own when warm, with apricots and honey in the background. The aftertaste lingers on the tongue for an eternity and warms the mouth.
