  1. Boletus did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

The dry sherry cask has put a nice stamp on the already attractively matured ''Glen Moray'' without killing it. Although the aromas are a bit side by side and perhaps not perfectly interwoven, which could possibly be achieved by a few more years in the barrel, I still really like this combination of nutty, dry Oloroso and juicy, silky brandy.
    • Nose
Carried by an initially prominent alcoholic solvent note, many dry and nutty aromas of Olorosos rise into the nose, light rolling tobacco and suede, finely chopped dried figs are mixed with chopped roasted hazelnuts and walnuts and Demerara, raisins as well as ripe plums and oranges ensure subtle aromas Fruit notes as a counterpoint, the oak appears polished to a high gloss and flashes with cleanliness, but behind the sulfur-free Oloroso influences you also notice the basic maturation in the bourbon casks, slightly tart pineapple and a small splash of lemon in the background, plus toasted oak and vanilla, but the aromas are of the basic ripening and that of the post-ripening are not really interwoven, but are rather opposed to each other
    • Taste
An interplay of tart and sweet fruit notes begins, unripe pineapple teamed with morello cherries leads an exciting wrestling match on the tongue against the sticky raisins and ripe plums, the mixture of toasted wood and furniture-polished robust oak stands behind and contemplates the spectacle sipping sparkling orange fizz and chewing very dry figs, a bit of Demerara, the clean malty base brandy has had enough room to maneuver from the barrels, ripe floury storage apples, it becomes more and more nutty and the roasted hazelnuts appear with dark milk chocolate, tobacco and leather are also added longer chewing more clearly
    • Finish
Almost a long finish, initially a strong oak influence is noticeable, freshly ground roasted coffee, the roasted hazelnuts embedded in dark milk chocolate are replaced by spicy walnuts with thick skins, the leathery notes and the noticeable tobacco let it dry slightly before lots of vanilla and dried pineapple introduce a nice aftertaste with malt and mealy apples
