Powerful stuff... OK, it was a large pour, but it made my mind go almost instantly absinth absent.
    • Nose
Fresh, fruity, sour unripe apples, yellow plums.

      Some vanilla and citrus.

Light note of juicy sweet rasberry.

Given some time in the glass it's a very pleasing concoction of sweet and sour.

Vegetal grassy undertone, there's thistle in there.

Spice and the alc strenght is noticable but not offensive.
    • Taste
      Light with a creamy texture.

      Good development of spice.

Traces of vanilla, dark caramel and brownie, but this is what I would define as spirit driven.

Sweet oaky wood. A small nip is sweet and warm, but a large sip made me feel kind of puckered every time. In a nice way though.
    • Finish
Taste is about medium lenght. Neat it's a little bit drying and the pure spice warmth is very long.

I really need water - otherwise it will tear me the beautiful palate of the malt - nice flavors but he could still have ripened a little - but was no longer otherwise he would become too bitter - still great PLV

Caramel, cream cream, mown meadow, lots of citrus and lime zest, sweetened lemon juice, sweat, onion, vegetable broth
    • Taste
      87 87
sweet grass, pudding, fresh wood, citrus zest, light tingling and very fine Hefeteignote, citrus oil, powdered sugar
    • Finish
      85 85
Without water he is too alcoholic, with water he is unfortunately a bit too bitter

Very nice sweet and spicy malt. Great aromas and a pleasant oak note in the long-lasting finish. Also drink well without water. Recommendation!

    • Nose
Pear candy, vanilla sugar, apple, cookie and peanut. With water there's something deep-fried but sweet, like churros.
    • Taste
Pear candy, vanilla sugar and a gentle maltiness. Later some fig and hazelnut. With water there's a sweet kind of orange.
    • Finish
Dryer. Pear peel, apple, marzipan, vanilla cookie and hazelnut.

This was my first taste of Glenallachie and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and thanks to Peatbogger for the sample.

This is a strange nose, I smell material like cloth. Pear drop sweets, vanilla shurbet dip, tinned peach, refresher sweet and golden syrup.
    • Taste
      89 89
Strong and spirity but tasty. Lots of citrus notes, orange, lemon, lime and vanilla extract. In fact it's texture and taste is almost like when you have a sorbet. The spices get sprinkled around the taste buds especially oregano.
    • Finish
      88 88
The finish is medium to long and quite refreshing for such high strength. Lots of orange peel on the death.

The new core range 18YO is about the same price, even if that's a sherry cask it would be interesting to compare. Presentation... I just adore these bulky Signatory CS bottles.
