port finish for a sweet dram!
roundness, stewed fruits, a little cooked, well-marked wood, a little dry glue and burnt caramel, some herbaceous scents and spices that amplify a little all that, bringing a scent of candied fruit well present.
The finish is nice, but a bit too monolithic.

A pleasant Dalmore, which the Portfinish stands well to face. Nevertheless, I lack the appropriate depth and complexity. I like the smell better than what you get offered in the mouth and finish. I am happy to have eaten this single malt, it will certainly not be a whole bottle.
    • Nose
      85 85
Dark fruits, prunes, some citrus, wood notes.
Harmonically tuned, but at times not very complex (no real depth). The port faces the Dalmore well in this case.

Slightly oily texture. Pleasant mouthfeel. Something youthful can be recognized. Also in the mouth dark fruits, as described here several times, they are clearly reminiscent of forest. In the meantime, the alcohol on the tongue stands out clearly.
    • Finish
      84 84
Medium. Appearances of older wood. Again dark fruits. Coffee notes. Light tobacco.

    • Nose
Well wooded, sweet, fruit jam. Very charming, with unexpected floral accents. A smooth hair.
    • Taste
Herbaceous, floral, it's young! But very sweet thanks to the port.
    • Finish
Sparkle on the spices for a short time, then goes away hanging a little.

I had the impression that we tried to dress a young malt with a very active barrel. That goes thanks to the alcoholic title I suppose.

The Dalmore has a very fine and beautiful nose. It is interesting that the sweetness that plays in the nose in the mouth then becomes a combination of fruit and peppery spices. The finish is more on the spicy, dark chocolate side. It tastes really good! And the PLV is very tempting.

Dark bronze. The legs run nice and oily. Makes you want to more.
The first time I take a sniff, I get orange syrup, sweet and fruity. But nothing more. Allow the malt in the glass a little rest.
Ah! After a few minutes of standing, there are red fruits, perfumed wood and spices. The nose is now really round and balanced - there is no stinging from the alcohol. A nice afternoon dram for cool Sundays in winter. After the first sip, the spiciness and the red fruit influences appear more clearly.

Oranges with ginger and plums! Very nice and surprisingly neat start. Nice mouthfeel. More peppery spices than sweetness. It does not matter anyway! Then come chocolate and nuts - rum nougat.
    • Finish
      86 86
The mix of orange fruit and spices continues even when swallowed. The bitterness in the finish, which comes more from nuts, sticks longer. The plum also stops.

Tasted during a Dalmore Masterclass. Higher ABV then the others from the Principal range helps a lot. Nice dram, not overly Porty sweetness. Could be some more present. Port colour faded out by E150 unfortunitly. Fruity but still restraint (Cherry, Nectarine). Also still quite grainy. Again heating the glass up helps to balance the dram. Not bad but could have been better and more outspoken.

    a hammer painter !!
    Dalmore and Port match
You can chew on it longer
    PLV is OK
    • Nose
fruity, fat, dark, sweet, heavy, red berries become stronger, becomes harsh and increases, beats something, light lemon ?, the heaviness remains !!
    • Taste
full and strong, that is on the tongue
fruity, oak, red berries (so wild berries), heavy sweetness, dark chocolate so 60%, wood that already stores something but does not bum or rot
      will be bitter later
    • Finish
      long
such a bitter / bitter combo, coffee / espresso, later a tobacco note (so this bitter)
