As a festival model, it did not live up to expectations. A little torn, simple and fuzzy. Although it's still a Big Peat.
    • Nose
      85 85
Earthy, light gray and gray, lime, mineral, stones, very subtle aroma, barely smoldering. Later there is smoke, ash, peat (very far away), meat notes, dried apricots, burnt deadwood, wormwood, water from watercolor paints. Not enough expressiveness.
    • Taste
      86 86
Smoke, ash, burnt rotten stump, seems more durable than claimed 48%, slightly watery, dried apricot, watercolor paint, fruit, banana, meat.
    • Finish
      84 84
Dry, smoky, ash, heats the tongue and palate, again rotting stump, raisins, meat.

N- Always a fun element to discover on various Big Peat releases. This Islay Fest special seems blended with soft and calm mindset that are breezy and unoffensive compared to other sibling, may sounds less 'fun' to some that are getting ready to get smack by the peat on the face. Citrus and coastal upfront, as well ripe pomelo and smoked meat with baked peat lurking. More bowmore on the mash bill perhaps. (87/21)

P- Bandage, iodine and inky with umami sweet savoury notes. Coastal with occasion burst of puffy sweet smokes. Balanced on weight and nicely sooty. (87/21)

F- Long, bonfire, cockle shells, thick and puffy follow by chewy spicy coat. (88/22)

    B/B- 88/22

    Cereal- 1, Fruity- 1, Floral- 0, Peaty- 2, Feinty- 1, Sulphury- 0, Woody- 0, Winery- 1, Spicy- 1

    Weighted Rate- 86pt

    powerful, uncompromising, young big pit

    It's Big. It's Peat-y. It's Big Peat.
    • Nose
Soft minerals, dried seaweed and quite intense fried bacon notes. Pretty savory, except for the subtle aroma of mushed banana. There's a lingering barbecue smoke too, and muted peat in the background.
    • Taste
Peat, soot, charcoal, cigarette ashes. There's a hint of lemon peel, and it is somewhat salty too, but this one is for the peat lovers.
    • Finish
Lingering peat, and finally a hint of milk chocolate and leather.
