Whisky Reviews for Highland Park 1992 - Jungfrau
4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.89 points
- Medium-bodied. One of the most atypical Highland Park bottlings I have tasted, and also one of the best. The whisky seems older than it is, and there's quite a bit of complexity going on as well. From nose to finish, a fantastic dram in all respects, and I really wish I had a bottle of this stuff!
Tasted blind as the 2nd whisky in my whisky calendar for 2016.
Floral spices, restrained but very much so present peat smoke, pear-infused flowery nectar, chocolate mousse with some liquorice, leathery vanilla, musty old wood (in a very pleasant way), really well-integrated sherry notes, some fruity tea, very oaky and full malt, citrus (predominantly oranges), a very light oily trait, old lacquered oak furniture, honey with cream and oak-spices, a light coastal saltiness, some peaty earthiness, it develops a new zestiness after a while and old wooden sailing ship (almost akin to many old Taliskers).
Cream, honey, pepper, sherry, a trace of old and mellow rubber (very pleasant), some kind of fruit jam, some citrus zestiness, a touch of wax, a bit of nuttiness, chocolate, salmiak liquorice and slightly medicinal and there's a bit of sea salt as well.
Long - toasted oak, vanilla, earthiness, salty sea, some fruity waxiness here as well, quite a bit of smoke that develops over time, some nuts in there and a bit of pepper in the finish (similar to the typical Talisker pepper hit on the finish).
- Does anybody know a shop where this whisky is for sale? Last five years I've been on holidays in the Jungfrau area and also on the Jungfrau. Would love to have this whisky. Please send me a personal message if anybody knows!
- Distilled 1992 and matured for 13 years in a sherry cask at Highland Park Distillery, and for one additional year on the Jungfraujoch (3454 Meter), Switzerland - Top of Europe. Before Bottling the strange was reduced from 66,3 to 58,7 with water from the Jungfrau Glacier.
