    • Nose
Chocolate and hazelnuts. Quite powerful. Gourmand, initially, it becomes closer to the distillate, with notes of zest. Plant notes marked. I'm a little lost, I do not have leather notes that I often have at Laga, with a rather dirty smoke.
    • Taste
Creamy and juicy at times, rather heavy touch. Smooth fruit, moderate smoke, all is expertly spicy.
    • Finish
Limoncello, more earthy in a second time.

      Enthusiasm 4/5

      Whisky n ° 1983

How do they do this? I mean how do they make such a great young peated whisky? These notes of clay, living wood, faint toothpaste, and the soft peat, and that perfect, round, yet powerful body... it all just takes my breath away. Better than the official 12yo releases in my humble opinion. I wish I had a whole bottle instead of just a small sample.

Tasted with Elements of Islay Cl10 (87 pts.).

Sweet without end, malty sweet, yellow fruit sweet, smoky sweet, aromatic sweet, yeast sweet
    • Taste
      90 90
Sweet and creamy, aromatic smoke, sweet oak flavor, a lot of pressure and heat
    • Finish

an expression of Lg ... 12!
    • Nose
      yellow!
      lemon, mandarin, herbs too
      peat smoke
      maritime freshness
    • Taste
greasy, black, filthy peat, and fresh fruit on citrus!
the seaweed, just discovered by the tide with a breath coming from the port, a little oil
spices then, it's heavy, pasty in the mouth
    • Finish
long enough on peppery spices, on ubiquitous peat, on soot
more cooked fruits in the end!

    Notes by producer:

That classic mingling of sooty fires, barbecue meat and sweet fruit characterise our eighth bottling from this Kildalton distillery, making for a deliciously comforting dram.

    Cask details:
2006 distillate aged in two bourbon barrels.

    Tasting Notes;

    Nose
Sweet aromas of caramel, mango and spices contrast with an underlying sootiness like the hearth of a cooling fire.

    Palate
An immediate hit of sooty smoke belies the subtle nose but slowly dissipates giving way to sweet, caramelised mango and peach, mingling with salty, charred roast ham. A subtle hint of star anise and clove lie in the background.

    Finish
A fresh salinity lingers, with sweet smoke and a hint of iodine.

The age finally makes this Laga a candidate for more than 85 / 86P, with which virtually all others were pissed off by Elements of Islay.
    • Nose
Fresh cypress, capers, olives, hazelnut, old campfire in the background with a pinch of salt, a little toffee
    • Taste
You can tell the age by very, very beautiful oak dipped in honey, significantly more than with the other Elements of Islay Lagavulins, it looks great, toffee, vanilla, caramelized dried fruits such as apricot and peach, a little salt, forest honey, nettle tea, light clove and anise, cinnamon
    • Finish
Salt and pepper with herb honey, some malt, fine, sweet smoke, medium length
