Aroma is dominated with malty tones and punctured by notes of fruit and bright candy sweetness; Palate his a lot of the same profiles, but get a lot more spice popping in with peat showing in light wisps; Finish gets a tad hot and dry, but stays mostly malty and sweet and where the smoke shows the most.

A bit like a chameleon. Pure with very intense nose, but brutal in the mouth - very bulky for me. With tidy water clearly tamed. Overall, somehow unbalanced, meets my taste rather less.
    • Nose
Nice fresh with mint, some citrus, sour apple, grapes, the 58% alcohol are not felt in the nose, no smoke with me. Over time, a bit musty.
With water: less musty, but clearer notes of lime and sour apple.
    • Taste
undiluted: extremely strong in the beginning, hot on the tongue (chili and / or pepper), clearly the mustiness from the nose
With plenty of water: lime, moldy damp wood, herbaceous, still no smoke, but good spice. Hardly sweet ingredients (honey, pear or similar)
    • Finish
Medium long, first sweet / sour from the apple, then slight bitterness and some pepper

    • Nose
slightly earthy, some menthol and a few bright fruits - maybe white grapes, citrus, sour apple
    • Taste
in front of the green / sour apple, a few more bright fruits, super pleasant on the tongue. When leaving the barrel then comes with plenty of spice
    • Finish
Mitellang, first sweet / sour from the apple, then slight bitterness and some pepper

Hm, if I read my notes like that, I would like it, all the flavors that actually suit me ... but he does not really. So-so. Bulky, disharmonious, is hard to describe, he does not feel for me "with rough edges" in a positive sense, "characterful" or so, but unfinished, haphazard, unsatisfactory.
80 € are certainly OK for the key data, but that's just not my case.
    • Nose
first sugar cookies, lightly burned, vanilla, lemon ... with less sweetness, but farm - a little musty / earthy, old, damp hay, cereals, old bread, altogether bitter ... even later (with a few drops of water) grapefruit / lime
    • Taste
the bitter-tart notes of grapefruit / lime, in addition to baked biscuits or toasted mixed bread, neat pepper, a baking cocoa coffee bitterness, but very gruff / dirty, slightly burnt-smoky
    • Finish
medium, first sweet, then bitter, then spicy, some lime

Nose: burnt caramel, fresh with mint and neat malt, cake dough and a hint of vanilla, some old apples but in itself very little fruit, musty light smoke (burnt straw), dried herbs and just a touch of oak

Taste: sweet and caramel, again a slight "burnt" note, powerful and spicy (pepper and steak spice), then again the lemon cake with herbs as a topping, - the ABGANG is then warming and spicy with vanilla, wood (really oaky) and as a fruit a hint of lime. Smoke discreetly and at the end except slightly scorched wood is no longer there

It gets even better with water: it gets lemony and grassier in the nose. Smoke disappears more and more.

Great exciting and complex drop - a lot to discover and complex without killing. TOP !

According to Whisky.de from the older Orkney distillery (= HP).
