Phew, the rating is really difficult, the flavors in the nose are really complex and exciting, but very difficult to elicit, he may not quite divulge them. In the mouth it is then a revelation, with powerful saps being more effective. The finish is flawless, but falls in comparison, since it is so unspectacular, strong off.

    Notes from a blind tasting.

Slightly fruity grassy at the beginning, but in principle quite closed. Remains right shut with life. Papayas and mangoes, more grass and a few Italian herbs. Hawaii pizza on the haystack. Heats up less grass and more mango, just not too much heat, otherwise it tilts, then there's nothing left but some menthol and tickling alcohol. He returns with falling temperature. Very narrow temperature window!

In the mouth, the tropical fruits are then brought to full advantage. The alcohol is in its power development very suitable for the flavor profile, slightly sprittig flavor. In the mouth are also few herbs, here dominated clearly the fruit with a hint of honey. The mouthfeel is very oily. In the second sip, the relationship then shifts in the direction of the herbs and he dries backwards a bit.
    • Finish
      85 85
The finish is relatively short and quite on the dry side with a lot of herbs. There is also no much residual heat. However, even after a very long time, slight apple flavors are still present in the mouth.

I don't really get along with it, so somehow I'm not in the mood for Notes.

In itself a solid whisky from the bourbon cask, if a bit closed. But the type of citrus notes bothers me. They seem so strange, artificial and chemical to me. Partly also like cleaners. I seem to be sensitive to something there. But it seems to be up to me.

  8. HammerHead scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

A nice whisky which mainly emphasizes a nutty and dusty barrel feel with some fruitiness drizzled on top. Not my typical favourite profile, though well executed.
    • Nose
      87 87
Orchard fruits apples, pears, peaches and a tropical mango, a bit floral, vanilla, caramel, mild honey. Also very nutty with pecan and Brazil nuts and a slightly dusty wood note.
    • Taste
      86 86
Initially sweet with more of the tropical fruit notes like peach and mango. Also a little pear, bitter citrus and some toffee. Develops into an even more pronounced feel of nuttiness and dusty bitterish wood notes.
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium length: bitter oranges, walnuts, pecans, some white pepper and lingering wood bitters.

  15. Najzero scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

Did not expect much out of this and ordered it with a sample set of the more recent MoS releases with/at a good friend.

Nose: fruity, hints of mango, green apples, vanilla joghurt and I would bet my money on Glenlivet, as it reminds me quite alot of a mixture of a more mature Glenlivet 12 and Glenlivet 12 First Fill mixture.
But its enjoyable to me, so why should I worry about the producing distillery at all.

Mouth: oh, I love those pure ex-bourbon whiskies. No disturbing finishes - wood, hints of the bourbon, fruit, more wood and some of the barley.
The 47.8% are on the mark.

    Finish: medium long, quite peppery.

    Final Verdict:
21 years, enough delivered from the cask, around 100€ and I really liked it.
As I only took 10cl, I am really thinking about getting a full bottle only for me.
