I noticed a slightly smoky whisky in drinking strength with clear barrel notes. Delicious but not too complex. Relatively intense spicy and herbal aromas both in the nose and on the palate with a pleasantly long finish.
Despite the description I did not spot any redwine notes whatsoever. The fruity aromas were somewhat masked by the pretty dominant cask.
Nutty and fruity aromas (dried apricots, citrus peel); oak barrel, a hint of rose water; a light alcohol nose. Some spices (clove, cinnamon, star anise) and herbaceous notes. I do notice some smoky notes in that whisky that might also derive from the cask. Quite pleasant overall.
Really nice mouthfeel, the taste is dominated by the dry tannic notes that come from the cask. Some cold ash, as well as bitter orange peel and lime. Very harmonious and quite pleasant.
Long and ashy, a little fruit (again the orange); dark wood notes and some sweetness.
