Whisky Reviews for Cooley 1992 CA

5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.89 points

N: candied ash - seriously. Wow. Soft, oily, candied lemon zest, ripe exotic fruits. Stunning nose. Soft and elegant.
T: honey lemon lozenges, light smoke, soft stone fruits, oily, nice mouthfeel
F: smoke is even lighter now, soft oily fading finish.

A stunner peaty Cooley. Really a big fan of this one

Don't expect the typical Irish profile from this Cooley. I'm sure it's a peated Cooley, unfortunately the peatiness doesn't express well and overshadows the fruitiness.

Oranges, ripe banana, vegetative peat, radish, orange peel strengthened while being a bit mentholated when first opened. Half-dried chenpi, it's quite orange oriented with some roasted nuts and bitter spices towards the end, specially some cooling herb near the rim bottom. Peat became more obvious after a sip.
    • Taste
      87 87
Fruity to start, mix of peach, grapes, apples with a splash of orange peel. All above lasted for at least 10 sec. Then black pepper, not bad but certainly not amazing.
    • Finish
      83 83
Fruit stem, orange peel, vanilla, followed by a thick layer of pepper spiciness. Wet burnt wood with a bit bitterness near the end.

    Cadenhead's Tasting Notes:

Nose: Initial smoke followed by bruised fruits, popping candy, fresh mint and kiwi
Palate: Kiwi continues, green grapes, black olives
Finish: Feint mustard seed notes, subtle earthiness. Classic Peaty Cooley.
