    • Nose
Powerful and sweet at the same time, it is fragrant and caressing, with grassy notes, then apricots, citrus and melon!
    • Taste
Sweet, it has a superb fruity heart! Intense and tangy!
    • Finish
In the continuity of the mouth with a small return of citrus!

      Enthusiasm 4/5

      Whisky n ° 1964

Riesling Kalkstein par excellence - very good stuff!

Not my favorite type of profile but I understand what can be found. The balance is there, as is the complexity.
    • Nose
      Sock perspiration.
      Strawberry, mushrooms, undergrowth.
      Light camphor fruit
    • Taste
In the mouth we go on the fruit first, camphor, metal, oxidation.
The strawberry is still there and is almost tagada.
      Always a little perspiration.
    • Finish
Long finish on pepper, camphor and perspiration.

    Serge say:

Ben Nevis 21 yo 1996/2018 (52.9%, Cadenhead, Single Cask, hogshead, 210 bottles) Five stars This one’s pretty new. Kind of. Colour: straw. Nose: ultra-classic chalky start, then fudge, light toffee, chicory, porcini mushrooms, Virginia cigarette, chicken bouillon, chestnut honey, botrytis, pine needles, humus… Well this nose is simply exceptional. With water: indeed it is. Old white Bourgogne, and I mean really old. Montrachet quality. Mouth (neat): sweet Vishnu! Citrons and melons blended with the chalkiest honeys ever and a wide assortment of soft spices, aniseed, coriander… Utterly love this. With water: boy oh boy oh boy oh boy. Chestnut purée, chestnut honey, old Sauternes, mocha, Ovaltine, caramel… All that with this chalky Bennevissy structure. Fantastic. Finish: long, amazingly good. Lemon blossom honey and… superlative stuff. Maggi and Marmite in the aftertaste. Comments: pffffff, Cadenhead. Ha, ha and I mean, ha. Go get this one if you can find it. Exceptional whisky, quite Springbanky, no wonder Cadenhead would have selected it.. SGP:562 - 92 points.

Good good good, enough young or middle-aged ones, let’s try to find some older Ben Nevis…

Chic Nevis, one of the best I've tried so far. A delicate aroma goes well with an explosive taste, and the aftertaste is also not knocked out. There is no particular layering, but amazingly delicious whisky. Alcohol is practically not felt either in aroma or in taste, integrated perfectly. The overall impression is slightly spoiled by the dominance of wood acid at the finish
    • Nose
delicate fruity, envelops in ripe oranges and pears, a little menthol and spices, vanilla with a drop of lemon
    • Taste
grapefruit juice, explosive, vanilla with spices, ripe juicy mango with cinnamon
    • Finish
long, citrus, mixed with spices and some woody acidity

Typical Ben Nevis from this vintage. Initial thoughts were that this was sherried in some way despite it being from bourbon but could have been where it was in the tasting. Enjoyable.

    Color: Yellow Gold

Comment: The best known to me (newer) Ben Nevis, the Bourbon barrel has put on the already fruity distillate still a shovel, then the mineral and turpentine notes ... For 100 ¬ the bottle was probably the offer of the year, until Serge then with 92 points the bottleflipper has activated. Hopefully some of the bottles will be drunk, they would definitely be worth it.
    • Nose
From the sample bottle came only fruit, followed by canned mandarin, vanilla pudding, polished oak, ripe apples after something quickly drifting dry wood. Chestnuts, Riesling, freshly mixed gypsum. Some passion fruit, some beeswax. After a long time in the glass of turpentine, sea buckthorn jam.
    • Taste
A worthy occasion for the word "complex". Oily somewhere between canned mandarins, sea buckthorn, broken, green branches, star fruit, passion fruit, beeswax, wet pebbles, menthol. I break off at this point and just continue drinking ... With water: May, must not.
    • Finish
Long. Orange peel, lilac blossom, pears, old oak wood. Wet autumn leaves.
