Gifted as a 3ml Sample to a larger Whisky Order.

This fluid is so remarkebly boring, that I wondered if it has 40% at all.

At this price point I do not expect to be overwhelmed, but dang, there are so much better entry level whiskies... Its not pure horror, but imho, buy something else. (Glenlivelt 12 First Fill, Deanston 12, Tamdhu 10... and so on)

    1433) Royal Lochnagar, 12YO

Day 42 of Lockdown - 28th April - Usually 28th is the day I am upbeat for, Salary day!! But not this month.... is ok, been through worst.

N- The last RL I had was from the GOT series, the prancing black stag still leave a burnt mark in my memory. So was a pleasant contrast when this one opened up with lovely citrus, honey and malt that lead to fine fruit gums and butterscotch bread. Fresh and charming, consistently zesty with teasing fruits, melon, nutty and vanilla. Like the unpretentious obvious bourbon cask influence, broad, wide open grassland with toasted spices. And last but not least, the whiff of sweet coffee at the tail. (87/21)

P- Classic entry level fine single malt. A very good option to down sorrow (like me now...), or I should say when we feel like going back to basics. Pleasant, light-medium body, good doses of citrus, sweet peaches and lightly wax, balanced distribution of flavour for light but substantial mouthfeel. (87/21)

F- Short-medium,honey, sweet spices and clean, subtle dry with layer of tartness. (86/20)

    B/B- 87/21

got it as a sample, I can only assume it was from long opened bottle or something - tasteless and flat. will try to taste it again, because this can't be right

Apples, a slice of orange, some fudgy notes.
Small pinch of spice in the background.

    Color: bright amber

Nose: Honey, but it warps. Oak. Dry caramel, fresh herbs, melon. The caramel burned a bit, roasted almonds or nuts. Malty. The fruity-honey sweetness flies after a time, he is surprisingly serious

Palate: spicy and malty. For 40% is quite a lot on the palate.

Finish: Medium long, a bit arbitrary.
