This was a very very disappointing H2H for me, in fact it was dire. The only conclusion I can honestly come up with is that Teeling Whisky is rubbish, and almost tasteless and obviously the quality/price ratio is off the scale in a negative way.
As the ages increased the quality dipped.
I usually like Irish Whisky but Teeling needs suing under the Trade Descriptions Act, I have had £10 blends that were better than these 7 offerings.

For what it is worth, here are the average scores, tasted in this order.

Compared to the 03/17 bottle the nose on this is not as expressive but shares the same vanilla and cereal note which you would expect.
The palate on this one is similar to the 2017 bottle but it is flat and not as flavoursome.
A few drops of water releases white fruits and a gummy bear sweetness which is pretty good.
The finish is short and quite flat, disappearing quickly.
After trying this 2nd Babazon all I can say is that I would not buy a bottle as they are not that good.

Alcohol is too dominant in the nose thus killing it in a way. In body and finish the acohol is much better integrated. Overall pretty pleasant
    • Nose
      82 82
Very strong alcohol in the nose. Fruity, red fruits, prunes, but alcohol is a bit too dominant. Green, plants, vegetal.
    • Taste
      85 85
Pretty strong and powerful but less alcoholic than the nose. Red fruits, prunes, honey, full taste.
    • Finish
      84 84
Smoother now, red fruits, prunes, middle long finish. Some honey.

30% of 2008 whisky fully matured in ex-sherry butts
30% of 2007 whisky fully matured in ex-sherry butts
30% of 2005 whisky fully matured in ex-sherry butts
5% of 2002 whisky finished in PX / Oloroso barrels
5% of 2001 whisky fully matured in sherry hogsheads

This may sound intriguing, but it's more appealing on paper than in the glass. Shouldn't have had this next to a 12 y.o. Yellow Spot, which outright kills it. Irish whiskies can be great in the ten-to-twelve-year-old bracket, but this one falls short of the mark.
To my mind, the exclusive focus on sherry maturation drowns out the Irish pot still character and makes this virtually indistinguishable from other modern, sherry-matured malts. In a larger blind tasting, almost no one realized this was Irish.
    • Nose
      83 83
Yeasty (young), with pleasant-enough refill sherry notes - perhaps like a younger Glenfarclas. Peppery, estery, gluey, a bit rummy. Lots of caramel and soft berry fruitiness, some marzipan (American oak) and icing sugar, and spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and, incongruously, a whiff of curry powder.
    • Taste
      82 82
Intense and sweet, with the peppery heat playing tug-of-war with the fruity notes. I'd say we're more in marmalade/jam than in actual fresh fruit territories here. Fig jam with peppercorns, anyone? Surprisingly little depth for a vatting of full-term sherry-matured whiskies, more than a third of which were older than ten years.
    • Finish
      81 81
Yawn. Sourish yeasty raisiny refill sherry flavors mingling with young spirity notes.

    Shot @ Dublin. ¥1300.

    Appearance: Pretty deep amber.

Nose: Sherry, raisins, pot spices, vanilla, caramel, cookies.

Palate: Spicy, lots of sherry and raisins, vanilla, caramel, cookies.

    Finish: Peppery, sweet, spicy.

With Water: Just a couple drops is good, a couple more thinned it out.

Overall: Very nice sherried whisky, lots of flavor, smooth.
