Smell: Light and gentle notes of sherry and oranges, very subtle wax, a little caramel and a finely spicy aroma can be heard in the background.
Taste: Intense, peppery at the beginning, then the fruit sweetness develops, again light notes of sherry, oranges and grapefruits. Also in the taste a subtle wax aroma, plus a slightly herbal touch.
Finish: Medium length, the spiciness of the oak picks up speed and a dryness sets in in the mouth.
Conclusion: A fine drinking whisky, with a pleasant drinking strength, which has its rough edges.

    My raspberry whisky!
This 17-year-old Distillers Edition is significantly more complex than the 15-year-old version (1997/2012), which I was also able to try.
The bottle has also changed a lot as the fill level decreased. Since only half of it is in the bottle, an incredibly intense raspberry scent fills your nose from afar. I bought the whisky for € 65 in 2016 and opened it in July 2020. Unfortunately too late, otherwise I would have bought a supply.

Very nice and very pleasant nose. Well integrated alcohol - barely noticeable. Raspberry juice, raspberry juice, oak seasoning. Very fruit-intensive and yet pleasantly fresh. Because of this promising nose, you can't wait to take your first sip. But it is also worthwhile to bring your time. With increasing warmth it becomes more and more spicy, the light red fruits fade easily and typical sherry barrel notes, towards cherry, emerge. Also some pepper, cinnamon and orange.

It has a strong and peppery start. The 46% are very good. Orange, cherry, pepper, wax, oak freight. Also nice and oily. Very pleasant tannins. If you like whisky with a red wine barrel finish, you will get your money's worth here. It's really going in that direction.

Medium-long finish. I keep strawberry, orange and light raspberry in my mouth. In addition, very pleasant tannins. Really not too bitter.
Seldom has a bottle gained so much since it was only half full. Within half a year. I will enjoy the rest of the drams very much and fondly remember the bottle.

A nice dram. But don't expect a too intense nose. You have to concentrate after the first sip to the aromas. That's fun!

      Before first sip:
Fruity orange and some honey notes directly with the first aromas. But nothing really to explore.

      After first sip (retronasal):
More intense. Dried fruits, vanilla, oranges and pineapples.

I love the spice which is coming with the finish! The finish is mid-to-long.
