Nice balanced sherry bomb. It drinks well and is really fun in taste.
    • Nose
      88 88
Sweet, hazelnut honey with tones of wood, spices, sherry and dried fruit.
    • Taste
      89 89
Very pleasant full and dense taste. Whisky is delicate and perfectly resonant. It has a scent-like profile, but tones of chocolate and coffee are added.
    • Finish
      87 87
The reverberation is a bit bitter, but otherwise very pleasant. In wood tones spices and sherry.

  5. Don Cassi scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

In the nose it starts with some cowshed, root vegetables typical of the Jura and dried fruits.

In the mouth it is surprisingly sweet and spicy and somewhere between full and watery.

In the finish, the oak strikes in the form of wet leather / tobacco, in the background a strong dark chocolate forms. The spicy-bitter notes last a long time and leave hardly any space for fruit.
    Length: 6/10

Overall surprisingly dark-spicy malt, especially in the finish, which reminds me a bit of Ledaig.

    Grade: 2+

Smell: medium bouquet, set note, "calm" and still present, slight machine oil note, maritime base tone, well integrated but definitely present note of wood, raisins, dried fruit, nicely balanced, the leather sofa comes through with air, smoke very discreetly in the document

Taste: medium body, more on the spice than on the fruit side, bitter almond, light marzipan, dark coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol very well integrated, oily, again coffee and tobacco tones in the long finish

Color: chestnut colored, medium WR, of course

Conclusion: An all-round successful Jura, nothing to be found of the often herbaceous cabbage tones of many whiskys from this distillery - but it comes especially in the nose with the light machine oil notes like an unpeated Bowmore ... At the offer price of less than 60 euros a clear subsequent purchase !

NOSE: Slightly musty sherry and dried fruit notes. The mustiness decreases with air and time, leaving sherried notes of sweet dried fruits. (85-86p)
TASTE: The arrival is sweet. But already on the mid palate the wood bitterness starts to dominate the fruitiness and the sweetness. (79p)
FINISH: By the time I got to the finish the wood bitterness was the dominant taste. (75p)
OVERALL: Again the nose was promising but it completely fails to deliver in the mouth. Another case of (too long) maturation in inferior casks tentatively masked by a sweet sherry finish…? TOTAL SCORE 80 points.

Well done. Intense and well balanced. But Jura and I won't become friends.
    • Nose
      85 85
Hearty, somewhat meaty, roasted aromas and a maritime character.
Then comes the fruit with cherries, plums and raisins. Some wet wood. Malt. Definitely a very full flavor. The fruits become more fermented. I don't like that so much anymore.
    • Taste
      85 85
At first maritime and even a bit smoky. The wet wood becomes stronger. Wet, dusty cellar. Fruits only on the edge. Herbs and spices introduce the finish.
    • Finish
      84 84
Here it becomes too bitter for me. Otherwise, however, of medium length and pleasantly warming.

Cardboard sweet, hints of chocolate in the smell. Sweet and spicy on the tongue. Sweet aftertaste, some cheese and maggi. Overall, despite the color, hardly any wood, makes no mature impression, but a lot of sherry. For 19 years and just under 46% surprisingly sharp on the tongue and fairly short finish. I got the bottle as a gift and drank it myself out of gratitude (partly with support), but I don't need it again.

I find a strange note on top of the sherried flavors that is not very pleasant.
Almost like smelling a hint of propane-gas, which ruins the impression and the experience for me.

This whisky, over-all, is not so complex for a 19 year old, but not too bad.
Though, this strange note on the nose is off-putting.
    • Nose
      73 73
A strange odor arrives first, propane-like (or the thing they put into it, so you can smell a leak).
Behind that though, there is sherry and even a hint of peat.
Quite pleasant, but this whisky is rather shy, I had to add quite a lot of water and wait for white a while before it opened up.
      Sherry, caramel and some vanilla.
    • Taste
      78 78
Sweet arrival, quickly overtaken by spicy notes some slightly salty notes.
Wood influence and quite pleasant, once watered down a little. In the start if was mostly just spices, it is better now.
    • Finish
      78 78
Quite long after-taste of a little sweet, a little sour and then licorice, pretty pleasant.

Very sweet Jura, but also spicy

Very fruity and sweet, red berries, caramel, raisins. Character from the distillery comes through well. Personally, I don't think it's a very pleasant scent, but it's nice that it does come through.
    • Taste
      86 86
Vanilla, very sweet, caramel, raisins, nice sherry.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium finish, cocoa and hazelnuts, raisins. Unfortunately no balance.

Aroma: very sweet, raisins, intense, typical notes of jura in the form of root vegetables, oak, light dark chocolate, slightly nutty, alcohol is not noticeable
Taste: soft, very sweet, vanilla, cereals, roasted hazelnuts, beautiful sherry notes which could also be a full ripening
Finish: medium long, sweet and slightly dry from the oak

A Top Jura - so far the best (as of 05.07.2019)

Line Up of 23/03/19 to the blind. 2/11
    • Nose
Dried fruits, creamy and buttery sherry ... which is also caramel.
    • Taste
      Diluted, caramelized and vegetal.
    • Finish
      Short on caramel and vanilla.

      Nose:
The first thing that comes to mind is a load of solvent and a smell of wood. Then something like salted dried fruit. Plums, figs, dark grapes and gingerbread spice.
With some time in the glass the colleague becomes tart, spicy and dry. More herbs. Has something of sage tea. Freshly oiled oak table. The dried fruits are now in the back of the line. Lightly roasted malt and a trace menthol I still find.
    • Taste
Herber, but soft start. Then neat pepper and cold tea. A salty and musty taste comes along. Significantly more herbs. I still have a taste for it ..... so I imagine it tastes good when you lick a freshly greased leather belt. Add to that fermented fruit. Sour apple and plum for me the clearest.
    • Finish
Medium to long. First neat pepper and a pinch of salt. Then stay bitter herbs and lightly roasted malt. In the end, cocoa and hazelnut stick.

The PX and the age did not leave too much impression on it, but it wasn't bad anyway.
    • Nose
      85 85
Floral. Forest fruits, citruses, caramel and spices.
    • Taste
      86 86
Sherry, spicy oak, fruits and Haribo.
    • Finish
      85 85
      Medium length, sweet, spicy.

  25. lachaineduwhisky did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

    • Nose
Rather creamy, shimmering, with dried fruits. Slightly maritime, it is rather cool and dynamic. Blindly, I would have bet on a younger malt
    • Taste
Round, with minimal influence of sherry though. Spices hang a little on the end of the mouth.
    • Finish
I find the driftwood of Jura with fruits. Slight lack of balance.

      Enthusiasm 3/5

    He is different.
Pretty sweet, almost like gummy bears.
In the taste but spicy and strong.

    It's perfectly alright.

    Colour amber/deep amber.
    • Nose
      86 86
Nice, fruity, red berries, light caramel, some candy.
    • Taste
      85 85
Very smooth, too smooth. Bourbon dominates.
    • Finish
      84 84
Fades away quite quickly. I don't think the age shows in this one. Some liquorice in the end.
