The colour is dark amber. The nose is sweet with cacao, chocolate, perfume, dried fruits, spices, plum jam and caramel notes. The palate is smooth, dry with very light sweetness and notes of dried fruits, spices and very light smoke. The finish is a middle, spicy and sweet with spices, pepper, chocolate and light smoke notes. As usual Pedro Ximenez casks add a strong sweetness, but here it’s a very delicate and light. The Loch has a good balance and taste. I gave 82 points. It’s a good whisky for daily drinking.

This is a blend of peated and unpeated Jura. The sherry cask in the equation was used to hold PX for 30 years. Feeling a bit thin overall, nonetheless a decent dram with an appropriate amount of PX influence which is good. A higher ABV might do an even better job.

    N 26
Sticky sherry nose, a touch oily – classic PX casked but not overwhelming
    Medjool dates, sultana, orange peel
Some vanilla, honey and malt surfaced subsequent to the sherry notes
    Whiff of coffee ice cream

    P 24
    Woody and sweet
    Honey & caramel
Winter spices go in parallel but aren't aggressive at all
A very light touch of smoke and a drop of Angostura bitter

    F 23
Short finish with a quick spice kick
    Fruit sweetness
    Malt and mild spices lingering

Sweet and sour, a little malty. Cooking spices, chocolate, brown sugar, dates, toffee, cherry jam. Subtle peat in the background. A tiny drop of water helps. Tasty stuff.

In the smell light, almost meaningless.
In the mouth comes the sherry.
    Soft and creamy.
    Something furry.

    Yes, that's good.

  11. J.K.Ch scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

This whisky wins the smell. Taste is a pleasant relish a little weaker.
    • Nose
The aroma is full of dill, there is a brewery's profile, delicate dullness is hidden under the tones of spice wood and sweet sherry.
    • Taste
The flavor is strongly woody, but not bitter. Sherry plays a friendly accompaniment mingling with spice tones. Milk chocolate, a drop of coffee and fine tones of St. John's Wort complement.
    • Finish
The mouthpiece is drier longer and gently turns into woody bitterness with tones of sherry.
