Smells fruity and smells and tastes like metal that fits perfect to me and my selfmade heavy metal kuttegang
when we r king at "Rock am Ring"

    \ , , / first choice airguitarhero energydrink \ , , /

I bet one of my best Lara Croft collectables on that

its not really good stuff, but its cheap and its..
    BrÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖm

I would never buy, as long as there are so many delicious alternatives - that was nothing
    • Nose
      75 75
my first nose is marmalade red fruit but clearly metallic young without alcoholic stinging.

The nose gets a bit better with time - but never really tasty. I always have neutral bittering and metal, machine oil and cheap smelly plastic in my nose.
In addition a cheap sweet sticky Sherrynase. That can be a Glendronach 12 (until 2015) or a Bunnahabhain 12 much better at the same course
    • Taste
      80 80
On the palate it looks thin, then it warms and shows mint at the same time - the alcohol is moderately well integrated for 44% but ok.
It is sweet with light nut flavors, there is also a fruity acidity but the sherry fruits are well hidden - a few raisins when chewing and orange - again slightly bitter - drinkable but not tasty
    • Finish
      80 80
short, warm, ginger, raisins, hazelnuts, musty, spicy - long pepper and wax

  3. peatbogger scored this whisky 84 points Specialist

Probably not very old, but it's still very lively and refreshing.
Being bottled at 44,2% is just about right. Not sure if 46% would have been better, but pretty sure it would have been a dud at 40%.
Anyway, I got my bottles at £27 and that is bang for the buck.
    • Nose
      85 85
      Very sweet and fruity.
Rich and interesting, but almost completely without wood notes. OK, maybe a tiny hint of dense mahogany.
This, and the dark ruby red color make it both look and smell almost like a cherry liquer, which is pleasant enough.
From a distance there is what I find to remind me of wild strawberries, and I love those.
    • Taste
      83 83
Starts off a bit dry and a bit thin, but it quickly improves.
Sweet and fruity. Apart from plums it's kind of hard to separate out. Floral with a growing spice.
Far from complex, still very pleasing.
Would be a great nip next to a sweet desert.
    • Finish
      83 83
      Medium lenght.
Sweet, with spice staying on into the finish.
A little nutty at the very end.

  4. dinis scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

    Very good sherry matured price/quality.

  5. Joschbert scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

Still a bit immature and metallic.
Above all, I miss fruit notes.
    • Nose
      80 80
Smells somehow "bitter" with a slightly pungent alcohol note. Sherry is recognizable, but hardly any fruit. Most likely still cherry and intense spices (carnation).
    • Taste
      82 82
Again alcohol, some nutty Sherry notes, orange peel and clove.
    • Finish
      79 79
Slightly bitter oak and some orange peel. Short to medium.

  6. EnjoyLife89 scored this whisky 81 points Expert Junior

Interesting mixture of properties of young and old malts. I really like the old cask note as it balances and outweighs the young brandy flair.
Without this grade, I would have only given 70 points.
    • Nose
Sherry; behind it an alcoholic note; Citrus, but slightly sweet at first; a malt note slowly becomes clear; somehow metallic
    • Taste
Sherry; Sweet; slight barrel note; spicy hot; slightly alcoholic (goes in the direction of a light fruit brandy character); Some malt shows up in the mouth for a long time
    • Finish
spicy; tart; slight cinnamon sharpness; beautiful oak flavor; Sherry and fruit; dark chocolate, really delicious

  7. Portfolioman scored this whisky 83 points Expert Junior

Sweet blended malt for a reasonable price (~ 33 Euro). Uncomplicated. Overall complacent.
    • Nose
some alcohol, cherries and other dark fruits, malt - clearly sherry influence
    • Taste
young - something metallic; Alcohol well integrated, but seems a bit watery (despite 44.2%!); clear and very present Sherry sweetness; Marzipan - light oak, a bit musty (old oak barrel)
      overall but pretty tasty
    • Finish
at best medium-long, subliminal sweetness sounds, overall pleasant.

  8. ajdedwards scored this whisky 62 points Expert Senior

Personally I just find this a jumbled mess. Nothing is particularly unpleasant I just can't identify anything of any note.

  9. mullos scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

maybe a nice beginners sherried dram
    • Nose
      82 82
well the sherry is present, but not much more
    • Taste
      80 80
very thin mouthfeel, a bit sherry
    • Finish
      79 79
      short, and even less sherry

    • Nose
      74 74
    • Taste
      73 73
    • Finish
