Smells fruity and smells and tastes like metal that fits perfect to me and my selfmade heavy metal kuttegang
when we r king at "Rock am Ring"

    \ , , / first choice airguitarhero energydrink \ , , /

I bet one of my best Lara Croft collectables on that

its not really good stuff, but its cheap and its..

  2. dRambo scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

I would never buy, as long as there are so many delicious alternatives - that was nothing
    • Nose
      75 75
my first nose is marmalade red fruit but clearly metallic young without alcoholic stinging.

The nose gets a bit better with time - but never really tasty. I always have neutral bittering and metal, machine oil and cheap smelly plastic in my nose.
In addition a cheap sweet sticky Sherrynase. That can be a Glendronach 12 (until 2015) or a Bunnahabhain 12 much better at the same course
    • Taste
      80 80
On the palate it looks thin, then it warms and shows mint at the same time - the alcohol is moderately well integrated for 44% but ok.
It is sweet with light nut flavors, there is also a fruity acidity but the sherry fruits are well hidden - a few raisins when chewing and orange - again slightly bitter - drinkable but not tasty
    • Finish
      80 80
short, warm, ginger, raisins, hazelnuts, musty, spicy - long pepper and wax

Probably not very old, but it's still very lively and refreshing.
Being bottled at 44,2% is just about right. Not sure if 46% would have been better, but pretty sure it would have been a dud at 40%.
Anyway, I got my bottles at £27 and that is bang for the buck.
    • Nose

      Very sweet and fruity.
Rich and interesting, but almost completely without wood notes. OK, maybe a tiny hint of dense mahogany.
This, and the dark ruby red color make it both look and smell almost like a cherry liquer, which is pleasant enough.
From a distance there is what I find to remind me of wild strawberries, and I love those.
    • Taste
      83 83
Starts off a bit dry and a bit thin, but it quickly improves.
Sweet and fruity. Apart from plums it's kind of hard to separate out. Floral with a growing spice.
Far from complex, still very pleasing.
Would be a great nip next to a sweet desert.
    • Finish
      83 83
      Medium lenght.
Sweet, with spice staying on into the finish.
A little nutty at the very end.

    Very good sherry matured price/quality.

  5. mullos scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

maybe a nice beginners sherried dram
    • Nose
      82 82
well the sherry is present, but not much more
    • Taste
      80 80
very thin mouthfeel, a bit sherry
    • Finish
      79 79
      short, and even less sherry

A good whiskey at perhaps a slightly overpriced price. € 30.- would be more appropriate.
    • Nose
      84 84
Typical sherry fruits, cherry too a bit metallic
    • Taste
      81 81
Sweet, cherry, but less intense than in the nose. Mild, hardly peppery, hardly oak
    • Finish
      81 81
Medium length, slightly metallic but pleasant finish.

  8. Xaver did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

    • Nose
      pink gold

Sour, fermented berries. Rust dust, oatmeal and some dark chocolate. In the background lies wet straw, wet cardboard, some apple cider vinegar and old peach.
    • Taste
Sweet sherry kick. Then honey, some orange and unripe sour cherries. The taste is then clearly a teenager note. Braised gum and sour apple. It reminds me brutally of these sour chips from Haribo.
    • Finish
Short to medium. First alcoholic, then more herbs and nutty. Will dry. And in the end, this clearly youthful taste.

  9. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 77 points Connoisseur

So I can not understand how you can think of it as a PLV banger. In the nose, I have still held back, but in the mouth is already very young and alcoholic. The sherry keg does not heal anymore either.
    • Nose
      79 79
Clear sherry influence, slightly nutty, chocolate and overripe red fruits, but I can understand the reviews, as there is definitely a metallic note over it, age is not overrated, the more superficial I reinrieche, the less is the false note there, for only 44 , 2% he is quite alcoholic in the nose, including a cereal note, which is of course whining on high Nieveau, for 35 ¬ you get here with neat sherry loaded malt whiskey, which can not be too old, is clear.
    • Taste
      75 75
slightly watery mouthfeel, becomes more and more watery, also young and metallic, above that the sherry influence, nuts, chocolate and dark fruits, very inharmonious, I liked the nose even better, alcoholic, very badly integrated
    • Finish
      77 77
Heckraus, the sherry is not much left over, cereal, a tick oak, harsh, not very long-lasting

Looking at the other reviews and rates I am very much the minority. But all I can do is say how I find it. This was a sample courtesy of Peatbogger.
    • Nose
      42 42
Struggling with this nose to find anything. It just smells a bit stale, or more like stale mate. What I do get is wet clothes drying on a radiator. Can't take this any further unfortunately.
    • Taste
      45 45
The taste isn't much better, it's lacking not just something but a lot. Taste and texture are way off the mark. It has a punch but doesn't follow up with anything special. There are fruit notes but it tastes very artificial. Like those fruit sherbets you got as a kid and you added water to make a fizzy drink. What fruit flavour was it? God knows.
    • Finish
      41 41
The finish is poor as well. It just falls flat straight away.
