You can do anything wrong with this whisky, or you can do a lot right. Depending on how much time you take and how much water you allow yourself. It took me about half an hour to increase my initial impression from 82 points to 85.
For 87 points, however, it simply has too much oak and too much bitterness, and for 86 points the other flavors are far too strong in the background to be able to drink it at cask strength
Strongly alcoholic, briefly glue in the nose like American bourbon whisky (luckily it disappears quickly), metallic, soap.
Behind it, it smells like a wet meadow on which a rotten apple is lying!
50/50 with water it reminds me of Souternes, with its typical nuances of quince, pear, honey and a spoonful of butter, maybe also apricots and peaches.
if you drink it shortly after pouring it, it is diluted to over 40% in terms of taste in the first part of my olfactory perception. And if it is mixed 50/50, i.e. 27% - 35%, it tastes just as good as it smells in the second part of the odor assessment, but then, for me personally, it is unfortunately watered down!
My tip 45% and wait 20 minutes (after all, it's also a 20 year old whisky)
-Then he will still be relatively good-
