A well balanced lighter whisky with some clear age on it. I disagree with the statement that the nose doesn't show the age. Yes it's all light and delicate, but this level of subtle complexity could never be achieved with only 10 or 12 years of aging. This is properly aged whisky not relying on the often present peat or cask heaviness for a change. Nice to see these kind of bottlings are still available in the current whisky landscape of ever rising fenol levels and treacle coloured sherry monsters.
Light, delicate, pretty floral and very fruity: pineapple, peach, orange, lychee, galia melon, honey, some vanilla and toffee notes, fruitcake, sugar bread, barley sugar and a subtle and mild oak wood note.
Lots of fruit with oranges, lemon, pineapple, peach and some sour apple, also syrupy (canned fruits) and a fudgy sweetness, finally some ginger and bitter oak wood spices.
Medium length: honey, a fruit syrup note, a light liquorice feel and mildly bitter oak wood.
