Although this Laphroaig is extremely young at only 5 years old, he looks older and mature in places. Sure, the youthful and impetuous age can not always hide, but I think that the sweet and creamy fruit flavors of this Laphroaig are good and let mature and look older. Otherwise, I find this bottling very successful. The basic character is easily recognizable, the finish does not look set, so a clear buy recommendation here again the price speaks against it. 70/75 € for a 5-year-old Laphroaig I find extremely borderline and also then the distillates must not be mentioned and also not appear on the label. Well, I bought this bottling, despite its (certainly worthy of discussion) price and was not disappointed! I like it and it tastes delicious too. Short and well deserved 88 points!
    • Nose
The typical Laphi-nose makes itself immediately noticeable ... Mineral and phenolic peat mix with fruity sweetness, whereby the iodine-containing peat with its cold smoky nose clearly has the upper hand. So peat and subtle smoke dominate the nose, sweet berries with a malty vanilla note are noticeable from time to time. I find myself getting creamy apricots and velvety peaches, but with this dominant peat note, it's extremely hard for me to really define the flavors. Peat, smoke and fruit harmonize perfectly, the alcohol is wonderfully integrated despite ü50. Slowly, a few greasy and oily flavors come to light and stimulate my salivation.
    • Taste
Creamy and mild, the first sip flows through the palate and throat. Sweet and creamy fruit elements play with the mild, yet very voluminous peat, slight pungency in the form of black pepper spreads on the tongue. Spicy wood elements and sweet fruit penetrate from time to time through the dominant peat. The second sip, the peppery pungency affects more intense and heats the already chubby heat in the entire mouth even more. Creamy and buttery with a slightly rancid walnut note, the taste goes into the aftertaste.
    • Finish
Butter and walnuts mingle in the finish with the peaty top note, the cold smoke is only occasionally perceptible. Old and spicy wood tones are creamy in the mouth, oily walnuts and dried fruit aromas are added. Sweetness rises and ends again in creamy and nutty wood tones.
