Add three drops of water: the aroma is dominated by fine herbs and salty taste, the taste is salty, slightly smoked, malt, citrus peel, fruity sweet, slightly peaty, bright apple sweet, vanilla, caramel Conclusion: The newmake aroma that had just poured into the glass worried me a bit, but it was surprising that the aroma soon turned into a vanilla-based salty sweet aroma, with a fresh, smooth, balanced and sweet taste, and a slightly more lingering finish. Salty and long fruity, very easy to drink (23) Total:88
    • Nose
Just after the bottle was poured into the cup, the newmake taste was noticeable but quickly dispersed. Vanilla, malt sweet, lemon zest, slightly salty, apple fruit, pepper, and leather began to appear. After standing for a while, creamy sweets appeared. , the overall aroma tends to be sweet and supple (22)
    • Taste
Creamy smooth texture. Very savory salty, peaty, citrus, slightly malt, malt, honey syrup, vanilla, herb sweet, pepper (22)
    • Finish
short. Citrus, malt sweet, fudge, some salty, spice, ginger, lemon peel, a hint of micro-woody tannins in the mouth, citrus sweetness, and a little herb sweetness all the way through the mouth. (twenty one)

Pretty impressive stuff by Bunnahabhain (or should I say, nicely chosen by Douglas Laing). As a first impression of the Provenance label, this is definitely an inviting dram. Not too complex, a little bit on the sweet side but with enough brine, malt and spices shining  through to be thoroughly enjoyed.
    • Nose
A full, round nose. A lot of sweet malt coming through, a cereal-like quality. There is also a very prevalent coastal brine on the nose. The sweet and "salt" works particularly well and reminds me of salted caramel or even more-so, a mix of sweet and salty popcorn.
    • Taste
The cereal quality carries over to the taste, as well as the brine/maritime character. An incredibly tasty fudge note develops together with some caramelized fruits. There are also some herbs/spices in there that are a little hard to place. They are a nice little bitter counterbalance to the overal sweet and salty nature of the dram.
    • Finish
Malt, vanilla and the sweet caramel linger on a medium length finish.
