Definitely great value for money! I guess lot people underrate this just because it's blended malt from Johnny Walker. This is definitely whisky to get spare bottle for tough time (for price of 40 euro) :)
I think Talisker and Caol ila are just in traces, if I have to guess I will say Linkwood is lead malt...
Only complain is about missing punch... maybe some talisker spiciness will be enough, but I understand why mellow, soft, light texture is pushed
Opened bottle after ~3 months offers slightly degraded experience for me

Lot of Fruitiness, some honey, some caramel, maltines, soft wood, sherry, nuts, some floral notes...
      Really balanced
    • Taste

Soft wood, caramel, some lemon, light bitternes, light saltiness

Really light spiciness, artificial fruits, peach ice tea, touch of bitter herbs, some sticky honey

Right at the beginning, mild and warm wood smoke in the nose, then citrus fruits, sweet apple, peach, notes of dough. Very light and pleasant seasoning from the barrel is added.
In the taste with smoke, honey, vanilla, apple again and lightly the peach, subtle oak notes that are noticeable for me here with a slight bitterness. I have to say that until then everything was very nice, but then from my point of view he loses a little bit, he seems a bit flat and he lacks a bit of body.
Medium-length, spicy finish, apple/pear flash briefly. All in all, a very pleasant surprise, great PLV and for me a whiskey that will probably end up in my glass more often in summer.

For this price you are getting a very complex and smooth drink. A definite buy.
    • Nose
      85 85
Not overwhelming, pleasant, a distant smokiness, sweet, green fruits, citrus, spice, oakiness
    • Taste
      87 87
Very well balanced, round, full, sweet, the distant smokiness is there, salty, green apples, citrus, caramel, very smooth, very pleasant, at the end biterness oakiness
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium-long, spicy, bittersweet, oaky, very pleasant

Pleasant amber color. Medium oily whiskey.
    • Nose
      83 83
Sweet. Caramel. Light smoke. Salinity. Salty caramel. Gently honey. Fruit appeared at the other nose. Peaches.
    • Taste
      81 81
Pretty sweet at first. Caramel. There is already more smoke than there is on the nose. Clearly perceptible, even dominant. There is a certain spiciness. Black pepper. There is a certain oilyness. The smoke of a dying out fire.
    • Finish
      82 82
Caramel at the beginning, a lot of salt. Smoke. Sweetness again later. Spices, warming up. After a while, fresh fruit flashed by. Medium-long finish. The smoke of a dying out fire.

I will admit that I am not much of a fan of Johnnie walker. Usually, I find these bottles very expensive for what they are, and there are better bottles to be found for the same price or cheaper. But wow, I was able to taste this bottle for the first time in a blind tasting, and it really surprised me with a very fresh scent with recognizable fruit such as apple, the taste is also exquisite. The aftertaste remains fairly short.

this has been a fixed value in my collection since the tasting.
    • Nose
      90 90
apple, pear dried fruit, caramel, salty and a hint of peat
    • Taste
      80 80
honey, brown sugar, oak and vanilla
    • Finish
      70 70
      last too short for me

    • Nose
      85 85
Sweet (strong Linkwood influence), no smoke that I personally couldn't define as an oak note.
    • Taste
      83 83
Strong oak, quite fresh and lively for its age.
    • Finish
      84 84
      Medium-length and oak-heavy.

Green apple, fruit, chocolate, honey, warm donut.
on the tongue round, peppery, sweet.

I have made sharp work of this bottle, but I did give my neighbour a couple of shots when we were out clapping for the NHS. I think I paid £30 for this bottle, a steal and I could drink this all day long. I think the Green label is the only vatted malt in the Johnnie Walker range, I could be wrong.
    • Nose
      88 88
Quite an elegant nose, green fruit like apple, pear, grape and just a little bit of citrus and spice.
The smokiness is faint but it is definitely there.
      Some bubblegum and boiled sweets.
Just to round it off there is some lovely oak and honey.
    • Taste
      90 90
This is really well balanced, everything seems to be in the right place. Yes there are lots of fruits, nuts and honey with just the right amount of spice and smokiness otherwise it would have been overkill. Looking at the four malts that are in there it would be very difficult to find that balance especially with two strong contenders like Talisker and Caol ila, Hats off.
I'm not sure what Alc Vol this is as it doesn't say on the bottle but it is spot on.
    • Finish
      89 89
A medium finish and those spices show more of their hand as well as the citrus. A puff of smoke right on the death.

Sweetness, vanilla, caramel, a little raisin, soft, mild
    • Finish

light spice, sweetness, some raisin, medium length

Nicely balanced blended malt with a harmonious variety of flavors, whereby in my bottle Speyside and Highland cabbage dominate alongside pleasantly integrated Talisker spiciness. The Islay character can only be felt in the second and third contact, which for a change is also very pleasant for a peathead like me. Every sip and also the drams enjoyed on different evenings showed new aspects, which makes this Johnnie a varied and very interesting product.
Tasty and harmonious and fully worth its pleasantly low price (29.35).

For the Price, this Whisky has me convinced. Do you taste the Age? Not really, but then again, I doubt a Young Whisky could be as perfectly balanced
    • Nose
Subtle, not overwhelming nose. Very pleasant, however even with time (been sitting there for over an hour now) it doesn´t open up any further.
    • Taste
This is the very Definition of smooth. Seriously, this goes down like silk. It´s perfectly balanced. Which makes it, of course, a perfect every day Whisky but lacks character
    • Finish
Short, nothing that stays with you for any time. Down one sip and ready for the next

  17. HammerHead scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

The latest version of the green with the changed label stating the major contributing malt whiskies to this blend.

Less well rounded and balanced than the 2011 bottling I remember. The nose does still remind of the 'classic' green but the initial taste is a bit flat and undermatured. Actually I would not give this 15 years by a long shot. Development gives way to some wood spices and the finish has a lot more bitterness to it.

Still decent, especially considering the fact that the price level has dropped by a significant margin in the last few years, but the old (pre 2011) bottlings were much more to my liking.
