For the Price, this Whisky has me convinced. Do you taste the Age? Not really, but then again, I doubt a Young Whisky could be as perfectly balanced
    • Nose
Subtle, not overwhelming nose. Very pleasant, however even with time (been sitting there for over an hour now) it doesn´t open up any further.
    • Taste
This is the very Definition of smooth. Seriously, this goes down like silk. It´s perfectly balanced. Which makes it, of course, a perfect every day Whisky but lacks character
    • Finish
Short, nothing that stays with you for any time. Down one sip and ready for the next

I have made sharp work of this bottle, but I did give my neighbour a couple of shots when we were out clapping for the NHS. I think I paid £30 for this bottle, a steal and I could drink this all day long. I think the Green label is the only vatted malt in the Johnnie Walker range, I could be wrong.

Quite an elegant nose, green fruit like apple, pear, grape and just a little bit of citrus and spice.
The smokiness is faint but it is definitely there.
      Some bubblegum and boiled sweets.
Just to round it off there is some lovely oak and honey.

This is really well balanced, everything seems to be in the right place. Yes there are lots of fruits, nuts and honey with just the right amount of spice and smokiness otherwise it would have been overkill. Looking at the four malts that are in there it would be very difficult to find that balance especially with two strong contenders like Talisker and Caol ila, Hats off.
I'm not sure what Alc Vol this is as it doesn't say on the bottle but it is spot on.

A medium finish and those spices show more of their hand as well as the citrus. A puff of smoke right on the death.

The latest version of the green with the changed label stating the major contributing malt whiskies to this blend.

Less well rounded and balanced than the 2011 bottling I remember. The nose does still remind of the 'classic' green but the initial taste is a bit flat and undermatured. Actually I would not give this 15 years by a long shot. Development gives way to some wood spices and the finish has a lot more bitterness to it.

Still decent, especially considering the fact that the price level has dropped by a significant margin in the last few years, but the old (pre 2011) bottlings were much more to my liking.

  6. marmeladow scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Nicely balanced blended malt with a harmonious variety of flavors, whereby in my bottle Speyside and Highland cabbage dominate alongside pleasantly integrated Talisker spiciness. The Islay character can only be felt in the second and third contact, which for a change is also very pleasant for a peathead like me. Every sip and also the drams enjoyed on different evenings showed new aspects, which makes this Johnnie a varied and very interesting product.
Tasty and harmonious and fully worth its pleasantly low price (29.35).
