A nice old Islay whisky. Can't really put my finger on what it is as with 25 years the peat pallate is very decent. No medicinal notes or iodine.
    • Nose
Smoky and maritime (salty) with a nice sweetness could be dried fruits or raisins
    • Taste
Salty and sweet. Some citric notes. As it is old it really needs time. Yellow fruits do appear
    • Finish
very long peaty with a hint of wood and sweetness

    I would say a Laphroaig, I feasted

Tasted this one twice and both times my opinion is that this clearly is an Ardbeg. Very sophisticated quality.

Eyes: Deep gold and fragrance. Nose: Peat, black smoke, salt, and dried sea fish. The fragrance is a little irritating. A few minutes later, creamy plums, raw peanuts, grains, and white vinegar appeared, which became softer. Finally, some shrimp skin custard, apple skin, pear meat.
Taste Palate: cream, mine, sea water, saltier, slightly astringent taste. Savoury cheese, seaweed and shrimp skin, thick egg burn, active fruit, orange peel, strawberry jam, crushed tea, rich layers. Slightly sour in the middle and late segments, crabapple fruit, toast, west toast, a bit of smoke and artificial leather.
Final rhyme Finish: long, smoked fish, salt, dust, whole wheat toast, a little woody spice Body: medium-heavy, full of fat, strong and concentrated body

    Nose: 85/100
    Palate: 88/100
    Finish: 87/100
    Body: 88/100
    Overall: 87/100

    • Nose
Well, straight away, I think of an Ardbeg. A relatively present peat, without being too intrusive, which reminds me of Corryvreckan ... but sweeter (the alcohol level is lower and therefore logical). We are on citrus notes, especially lemon but also orange zest, with a little saline touch. A hint of tobacco is also felt.
    • Taste
Sweet and slightly oily. Nice set with a very round whisky on the palate. Peat nicely integrated into the citrus blend. We find oranges but also grapefruit. We also taste grape juice, very sweet. All with nice little peppery and saline notes on the finish.
    • Finish
Nice and long finish, on peat and pepper.

Nose: Gentle peat, accompanied by floral profiles in the like of orchids, very elegant start. With a bit of time, a burst of tropical fruit can be detected, banana, papaya and mango in specific. Just impeccable.

Palate: The palate was shy at first, but later on, the nose perfectly translates onto the palate, with the gentle peat kicking off the journey. Quickly followed by some lively flowers, that give way to a yellow fruits burst, specifically mango and papaya.

Finish: the finish is long and warm, with the peat and malty sweetness ending the journey

This dram is very impressive as it is an elegant yet power dram, essentially painting a picture of a dinner in the tropics; a camp fire on the side, with floral decorations, where in the middle of the table is a yellow fruit basket!
