    • Nose
      89 89
Apricots, muscat grapes, pineapples, the fruitiness was quite rich. Fresh olives, hay, fruit stem, some leaves and oxidised Asian pear flesh. Fruity and mellow but the aromas didn't quite last. After a sip, smoked tea leaves with light nectar.
    • Taste
      89 89
Pineapple, muscat grapes, yellow pomelo, Orin apples and pear peel with very mild black pepper. After 30 seconds of chewing, honey green tea with dried tea smokiness.
    • Finish
      88 88
Again the start was fatally weak, quick apples, then hay even barnyard, light vegetable peat and again Asian pear with core this time. Long and smooth.

To confirm again, many cloud tops in the 80s have a faint feeling of kerosene mixed in water. I wonder if we can judge the age based on this. The overall style of this wine is still closer to the Japanese market, floral and fruity, soft, but the age of the wine is still slightly lower, and you can drink the feeling of new wine. In addition, the flavor after the entrance is slightly monotonous than the last time I drank, I don’t know what exactly. The state of the bottle is closer to that year.
    • Nose
Fruit pastry shop, cantaloupe, carambola, apricot, citrus, locust tree, eucalyptus honey, lemon pie crust, strawberry dafuku, kiwi rock candied haws, freshly squeezed apple juice, some kind of temperate Tiki. The sugar content is amazing, the very light peat, the ocean and cheese flavor, and the slight sugar water alcohol feel.
    • Taste
Kerosene, cold water, minerals, a little green aroma of new wine, average sweetness, peat appears, plant stems and leaves, fruits in the smell gradually fade, white oak, almonds, bitter matcha powder.
Normal, good fat, slightly sweet, no acid, no tannins, no astringency, slight bitterness, no pungency, maybe alcohol.
    • Finish
Normal, lotus seeds, a touch of kerosene peat, soy fat, wood and grain fragrance.

    Eyes: Golden

Smell Nose: Apple juice, strawberry ice cream and sweet apricots are pouring up. The iconic salty cheese, nabati, is hidden on the bottom side, with some cider flavor. Cucumber and pear skins are hard to detect minerals, but the smoke is not overpowering, and blue cheese seems to be absent. After waking up for a few minutes, the sweet Wangzi milk, plum garden and cheese custard appeared. The oxidized and special grape stalk flavor of Sherry finally came through, and the breath turned to sweet fortified wine. Although interesting, it is not my dish.

Taste Palate: cheese, powdery white flowers, essential oils, lilacs, cheese meal packs, some red juice, a little oil, bay leaves, grass fruits and other braised meat spices. There are some smoky smells of potion, disinfectant and plant ash in the middle and back stages, which is slightly raw. The saltiness is not low, the sweetness is medium, the bitter bottom is obvious, the barrel is too over, there are not many minerals, and there is some muddy feeling.

Final rhyme Finish: long, puffed food, rosemary, parsley, dried apricots, glutinous rice porridge

Body: medium-light, fat, a bit weak

    Nose: 89/100

    Palate: 87/100

    Finish: 86/100

    Body: 86/100

Overall: 87/100, it feels a bit over oaked, and peat is slightly grown

This is actually quite different from the transparent dumpy version of 8 yo. You won't find any "Springbank's signature dirty smoky notes" in this dram. Everything is so harmonic and elegant. Some of the mineral notes remind me of some Chablis whites.

This is why people are tirelessly searching for old wine.

Passionate melons, apples, citruses, lemons, honey, and fresh fruit candied gourds. Fragrant peat, minerals.
    • Taste
      90 90
Kerosene, minerals, soy fat, fruits with the same smell.
    • Finish
      90 90
Longer, peat, grease, wheat aroma, minerals.

Thank you Roger for the sample! Young but mature Springbank from the old days. Quite the surprise to be honest.
    • Nose
      88 88
Bit of a dusty even somewhat metallic nose. But good on the yellow and white fruits. Some honey in the mix as well. Mineral notes appear after a short while. Hard to believe this is 8 years old. Beautiful nose,
    • Taste

Somewhat thin on the palate and a musty arrival. Going towards pears, sawdust, stewed apple, melon. The nose is better to be honest also the finish is better then the taste.
    • Finish
      88 88
Quite long and nice. Old tinbox, some metallic note, melon, pears. Small bit of wood but all very nice. It is a bit restrained to go higher with the points but a nice one!

This is really a very classic old Springbank profile - you won't find this in current bottlings anymore
    • Nose
Fresh, fruity, citrusy, lemons, honey, limestone, minerals, more yellow fruits, plums, apples, grapes, even whiffs of ham and smoke - very good!
    • Taste
Oily, very mineralic, stones, very subtle sweetness, fruity, pears, grapefruits, also some greener fruits, little salty
    • Finish
Medium long, warm, more spicy and zesty, a tad bitter in the end
