The best grain whisky I've enjoyed. Brought to mind a fine old Rosebank aged in a good bourbon cask, but with more depth.
    • Nose
      93 93
Vanilla, honey, zesty and cream Japanese citrus called hyuganatsu, woodspice, dried white fig, marzipan, honeysuckle, fennel, sawdust, white pepper. There seems to be more there but it gets too hot
    • Taste
      92 92
Honey, vanilla, hyuganatsu, marzipan, paper flying saucer candies, syrupy and oily
    • Finish
      91 91
Lingers and retains your interest, with good balance with the astringency from the wood well married to sweet and oily consistency

Absolutely drink worthy . At times a tad too much wood for me and I would have liked more from the finish. Otherwise it would be really outstanding. Full review (german): https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2020/12/31/compass-box-20th-anniversary/

Somehow very close to what I expected. Really tasty, but way too overpriced. Admittedly, I hardly have any comparative values as to what objective effort you have to make to create such a taste profile (and what age you need for it), but subjectively, this price range is simply far too high when I think of Scotch in this price range.

Undiluted: Even after so many years of drinking whiskey, I still find it difficult to define grains in more detail (let alone estimate an age). Definitely going in a wheat / corn direction. The grain note is not sharp, but is softened by sweetish hints of vanilla and rock candy.

Diluted to approx. 45%: The grain note is more dominant than before. After the first sip, I now find the acidity that I had in the taste. In any case, multi-layered, so that you always get new impressions the longer you smell them.
    • Taste
      60 60
Diluted to approx. 45%: Somewhat sour, spicy like pastries (cinnamon or aniseed) or herbal tea.
    • Finish
      60 60
Diluted to approx. 45%: Goes slowly and for a long time into a delicious, sweet-bitter flavor that slowly pulls down your throat.

    • Nose
Very sweet nose full of vanilla and marzipan. A soft herbal mix in between a pine tree and pineapple.
    • Taste
Rich and sweet with the right amount of spices (ginger and nutmeg). Vanilla and orange peel in a soft fruit mix. Excellent balance and medium body. Perfect blended grain whisky where the grain doesn't get the overtone.
    • Finish
Half long and sweet perfect finish with some ginger.

    Mega Whisky.
    • Nose
