really great malt. A wonderful nose and a really tasty aromatic finish. The palate doesn't quite fit into the picture. Otherwise easily a 90+
    • Nose
      91 91
dark fruits enveloped in a fine smoke, nice sherry aromas, dried fruits, plums, raisins, the alcohol is imperceptible, orange peel, a bit spicy oak, light forest honey note, some chocolate in the background, later slightly ashy, great nose
    • Taste
      87 87
smoky, some ash, used charcoal, dried fruits, dark berries, getting a bit sour, orange peel also here, later a little bit of chocolate in the background, then getting rather dry
    • Finish
      90 90
Smoky finish with a nice aromatic and dark fruity touch, very pleasant and stimulates saliva. Quite a long and warming finish. Spicy at the end

For me no typical Laphroaig, I would now rather blind typed on a Moine Bunna or a PC. Definitely very exciting and delicious. I like the dirty touch of sulfur and the sweetness associated with the smoke.
    • Nose
red fruits, nuts, slightly into sulfurous, ashen medical smoke, but not too intense, the nuts are slightly roasted, it glows something, Neapolitans, a few drops of Maggi, I find a sour note of apple after the first sip, if you smell behind the sherry and smoke, pleasant to scratch
    • Taste
sweet and strong smoky, oily, a touch of sulfur, here too lighter red fruits, burnt nuts, dry mouthfeel, really yummy and creamy, no water needed
    • Finish
Nut, still a touch of sulfur, a light fruity sweetness, is just something in the direction of the shower and tingling something on the tongue, ripe apple on the palate, behind not very smoky, but rather ashen

"Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of MaltNose: Classic medicinal peat wafts, joined by hints of Christmas cake fruitiness.

Palate: Oily barley, espresso, TCP and root ginger. Finish: More ginger, now with nutmeg in tow. Smoke lingers for minutes afterwards."

Yeah, perfect ending of the evening. Smoke, sherry, bam. I like that. But not this typical Laphi smoke, rather greasy and ashen. Somewhere I've read to that, that the Laphirauch not properly enforced or something. But I believe that another distillate would hardly have had a chance to prevail against this barrel. I really like it.

Round Malt, which has somewhat lost the characteristic Laphroaig character. Nevertheless, very pleasant to drink, no stinging alcohol, and beautiful fruitiness, which harmonizes wonderfully with the mineral-salty notes and the greasy smokiness. Something more real Laphroaig I would have liked. Still great. 89 points
    • Nose
Wow, almost no smoke, is that really Laphroaig? Very greasy and greasy, with a hint of smoke from the beech wood grill. no sulfur. Medical notes, iodine, salt, discreet menthol. The sherry aromas harmonize beautifully with it. Orange notes, Christmas spices. Beautiful round nose with surprisingly little smoke, but without corners and edges.
    • Taste
Smooth, slightly peppery smoke. Beautiful red berry and orange notes. A bit woody-dry, a bit leathery, slightly tobacco and saltiness
    • Finish
medium length, tobacco, smoke, fruity-sweet, little bitterness

If you're looking for an intense smoker in the classic Laphi style, then this malt may not be the right one. With soft wood, chocolate and Christmas fruit flavors, the whisky still has much to offer. The Sherry Keg brings a variety of delicious flavors to the malt, resulting in a really elegant and slightly different Laphroaig after the long maturation period.
    • Nose
After about 18 years in the Sherry-Hoghshead, the characteristic Laphi smoke has degraded relatively strongly. Thus, a relatively discreet charcoal smoke rather than the typical maritime and smoldering aromas. The sherry barrel with nutty notes of wood, soft chocolate, creamy vanilla, sweet cocoa with amaretto, Christmas orange aromas (oranges with cinnamon and cloves) and red berries dominate. These are joined by slightly ethereal caraway notes and some sweet black tea.
    • Taste
The aromas from the nose can also be found on the tongue. The malt flatters especially with creamy wood notes, fruity vanilla and orange cream, sweet tobacco aromas, cinnamon, cloves and in the background with a slightly peppery campfire smoke.
    • Finish
Now the malt is a bit spicier and the soft fruit notes are more in the background. In addition to the Christmas carnation and cinnamon aromas and sweet and sour orange marmalade, nutty espresso roasting aromas and a hint of peppery charcoal linger in the mouth for a relatively long time.
