    Tasted blind. Enthusiasm 3/5 Whisky n ° 1741
    • Nose
Cheese note that disappears quickly in favor of an atypical peat with incense notes, then farmhouse accents. A walk near the manure reserve? Disconcerting.
    • Taste
Peat, pepper peat. Not easy to drink. Too bad, behind hides a beautiful fruity.
    • Finish
Short finish, but with an interesting fruity persistence.

(all tasting notes: with 1tsp water added to a ~2cl glass)

Porridge, butter, dark fruit jam (ripe cherries? blackcurrant? blackberries?), cinnamon, nutmeg. Peat is not obvious and stays in the background.

      Very unusual and interesting.
    • Taste
      91 91
The peat says hello. Oily, thick spirit, the dark fruit jam and cinnamon continue from the nose. Less grain-forward than the nose suggested. Roasted hazelnuts, salt appear afterwards.

More of a highland-style peat than Islay: no obvious medicinal notes.
    • Finish
      92 92
Long, peppery, lightly ashy, salted-butter caramel. After a while the pepper is gone, and the dark fruits come back. Still there 20min after I finished my glass.

Great stuff and pure fun to drink this Swedish Whisky. Smoky, fruity, dense and ripe. With a little water sweeter and more mellow. Mr. Caldenby, that's good juice.
