For me the best in comparison with the GG21 and the GG 1998 Hotte Cask.
Easier a true gentleman. He has everything I expect from a nice mature sherry malt.

Very elegant and flattering. Here I also find dark forest berries, dates and raisins. At the same time also roasted nuts. In addition, light cocoa notes. Also hints of strawberry and vanilla. The Malt looks very balanced and perfectly adjusted.
    • Taste
      92 92
A short date raisin kick, before a beautiful spice cake note enters into a beautiful interplay. Again, the malt looks very elegant. It stimulates the salivation and creates a great mouthfeel. Roasted nuts, gingerbread spices and slightly tart notes keep a perfect balance.
    • Finish
      90 90
First very creamy, then drier. Again dried fruits and cocoa.
Finish is very long. If you drive your tongue through the mouth, a nice bitterness will spread again.

... it clearly benefits from longer breathing in the sample bottle ... in the nose very nice sherry-dark fruit notes, some tobacco and leather, in the mouth just as nice sherry-fruity with pleasantly integrated alcohol, it is simply round in itself and the finish is just as consistent. He is very elegant and a real Glentleman. Its age is noticeable, light, pleasant oak notes are super well integrated.

    Notes from a blind tasting:

Great sherry malt. Intense aromas. Nice profile. delicious
    • Nose
      90 90
Rather subtle nose, dried fruits, citrus fruits in the background, some spicy oak, berries. After a while, the sherry flavors become more intense and it becomes fuller. Subtly sweet, creamy, caramel.
    • Taste
      90 90
Creamy, nice sherry notes, lots of berries and dried fruits, some caramel and chocolate, slightly spicy oak. Full and round. Slightly sour towards the end.
    • Finish
      88 88
strong sherry notes, spicy, chocolate, oak. The flavors linger on the palate for a long time.

[Notes BGB XVIII Dram #1] Well, definitely not coastal or peaty. I can't find heather or herbs in general either. When I start the glass freshly I have to think of GlenLivet .... Then it's something again that reminds me of an Edradour? In terms of alcohol content and age/barrel combo, only the Fairy Flag could fit. But I've never tried it... Hmm... or something like that GlenLivet Signatory thing from the tin can with 46%!? They used to be older than 12 years. Definitely a very tasty start to the battle. The dark ruler knows how to lure the lost souls.
    • Nose
Colour: Light amber with many isolated, fast running legs

Smell: Sweet and fruity, honey, wild berries, toffee, orange and sherry. Aromas: Dates, plums, cherry. Plus a subtle hint of wood in the background. The alcohol is also slightly noticeable.
    • Taste
Mild attack and yet aromatic in taste. Overall the sherry flavors dominate, but then there is also wood and something very floral morales. The cask wort develops...
    • Finish
Initially still strong and spicy. Pears, subtle pepper, a bit of cigar tobacco and wood. Quite a long finish and not overly bitter or sour. Much later sweet as jam again.

It's a classic sherry bomb. He sets clear priorities on wood and sherry ...

SHERRY !!! From A - Z .... darkest dried fruits, great sweetness, mjam mjam.
    • Taste
      90 90
Extremely warming, very spicy and aromatic,
    • Finish

A bit sharper and more astringent than expected, a lot of oak / wood.

Confectionery and mineral! Toffee, condensed milk, grapes, plums, honey, spices, cookies, aged brandy, rotten wood, fallen leaves, glue, sulfur.

    • Nose
Fresh and full with lots of chocolate. Complex toffee and fudge. Plum, dark fruits, lots of stewed fruit wth brown sugar. Dark forest honey. Complex, and all the detailes are subtle, even a slight hint of sour note in the back. With water it is getting towards to the stewed fruits. Figs and dates
    • Taste
SLightly hot, spirity arrival. Then the development is extremely unique, with the dark chocolate and the bitter cocoe/coffee finish. Brown sugar
    • Finish
      Amazing bitter complexity

This bottling of the 25er Glengoyne standard from 15.1. 2018 is a very good "old sherry malt". Unlike bottlings from before 2018, however, this bottling emphasizes pronounced oak, forest soil and even delicate sulfur aromas, and the deep plum sweetness and enormous density between the "old library" and the plum roaster of older bottlings is no longer enough for this 2018 bottling.
    • Nose
      93 93
Oak, herbs such as chervil and marjoram, for the first time with a filling of the Glengoyne 25y light sulfur air, ripe plums, old library, damp forest floor.
    • Taste
      91 91
In this bottling from 2018, the oak is immediately and strongly present, as are the herbs and the damp forest soil, all of which again blown by a delicate brimstone. The ripe plum comes in the second wave; the fruits remain clearly in the background, the first violin playing oak, forest soil and leather.
    • Finish
      90 90
In the medium-long finish, the palate impression continues, with continued dominate leather and intense oak bitterness.
